Influence analysis is the process of identifying which data points in a dataset have a large impact on the statistical model fit. These points are called "leverage points," "outliers," or "influential points." To detect these points, you can create scatterplots, use leverage statistics, use outlier statistics, or use influence measures. It's important to identify influential points because they can significantly affect the results of statistical analyses.
