Good evening sir, I am BBA (finance) student. I have completed my 2nd year of graduation and now decided to go for CFA. From one of the source, I got to know that there are 3 levels exams in CFA and every level adds value in career building. Completing level 1 will add value in our qualifications and will help student become more eligible candidate in finance industry. For example, if we look at CA, level 1 and level 2 doesn't really help us. It isn't beneficial until and unless we clear level 3 exam of CA. But if we clear level 1 CFA exam, it will be helpful for us to get finance job and greater opportunity of getting good salary as compared to BBA graduate. Is it so?

More precise Finance graduate don't even get job in finace. Students are offered sales job. Salary would be normal like 18k-20k maybe. But if I clear CFA level 1 exam, I would be offered finance role in company with starting salary ranging between 3-6 lacs. On clearing level 2, salary would range between 6-8 lacs/annum. Clearing level 3 would help getting salary around 8-10 lacs something.

Hi Tameem , you are right CFA level 1 holds good value in India . Investment banks don't bring core job profiles in India so CFA level 2 knowledge is enough to get a good package in India. And yes graduation is certainly not enough in Finance field. Employers want responsible and mature individuals which they don't expect from a BBA.

CFA is a good fit if you can take the expense and tough nature of examination. CIMA takes very less time post MBA as well as expense and yes it is a good fit with MBA. However, if you wish to move to the field of accounts ACCA or CPA can be opted based on the company you are targeting.

If cost is the issue, join a job first as a CA Final student. Once you have enough money, you can register yourself for CFA. Believe me maximum students do CFA alongwith jobs. Having that said, I suggest to focus on clearing CA Final first.

Books can be purchased directly from the portal (Kaplan or BPP). Self study is risky only because there is no discipline. I see students studying for knowledge for 1.5 years who started on their own or via free content. With proper guidance a student can clear first 4 papers within 5-6 months. We also put free content and have a doubt clearing group on discord but just to assist students studying on their own and to build a community of like minded individuals.

It depends on the country whose operations you a responsible for. Being a CA I worked in an American Investment bank but I was dealing with their Hongkong Regulatory division , so my timing was 7am to 4pm. ACCAs and CPAs were also working with me. They had the same timing. So it doesn't matter whether you are a CA, CPA or ACCA . And if you don't like the timing they offer you can always tell them.

CFA is good, you can also look into executive MBA Finance programs in the field of finance. But in the long run CFA is important for core profiles in Investment banking.

Sir, I am graduate as Bcom pursuing Mcom and CA Final group 2 is pending. In Acca I have to give only 4 papers, As of now even if my CA final group2 is pending then also?

I would suggest you you to focus on CA Final right now. However, to answer your question, you will have to send your marksheet to ACCA to get special permission so that you only end up giving 4 papers.

You can check with your Sr. Manager. As it depends upon the type of clients you are handling. If IFRS is applicable to your clients ACCA will definitely add great value. Also for further career growth may be as a fin. Control profile in a investment bank ACCA can help.
