To answer why there's so many small countries in Europe, the only two words that can be used are "Vikings" and "Rome". Rome was a massive empire that ruled pretty much all of Europe, but when they collapsed, a lot of the local populations, especially the ones that had been under Rome's heel for a good thousand years or so decided to form up their own borders, and when Vikings came a calling, they added onto that, invading into countries outside of the ones you usually consider Vikings to be in. As a result, the map of Europe got changed A LOT throughout history. Compare that to the United States, who - after we became independent - bought our way to owning most of the land we have (or invading into parts of Mexico) in order to make us as big of a country as we are
@copocopocopocopo6 ай бұрын
Also has to do with the fall of the Soviet Union. A lot of the Eastern European countries came out of the Soviet Union's fall, such as Ukraine and all those countries in the Balkans that used to be Yugoslavia.

Love the irony that this was possibly the ONLY time during imperialism that Penn State would have had an amazing chance to win it all, and seeing their removal from the competition being... Bordeaux erased them when they WON THEIR GAME AGAINST OKLAHOMA. Would they have faired better against Washington in the final? Maybe, maybe not, but we will never know, and it's just really frustrating, especially with how poorly Penn State tends to do in the simulations. And yes, I absolutely understand how the mistake happened. I don't fault him for being tired and making a mistake, more frustrated that it happened. While I do appreciate that he said he's going to "make up for it" later on, there's also something to be said about the missed opportunity to see your team win the final imperialism on NCAA 14. With all of the whinging aside, this was a great video, and I cannot begin to fathom how long videos like this must have to take. Seriously appreciate all of the effort that must go into insanely long videos like this, especially to do it this consistently. Looking forward to your content on the next game!

Several countries not used (which makes sense given there are more countries than teams) but then there are teams in non-countries? Falkland Islands aren't a country, Greenland isn't a country, Western Sahara isn't a country, etc. Didn't need to use non-countries when there were so many spare countries. (To be fair, I definitely get it with Greenland, given the size and location). Don't take it the wrong way, I'm just a geography nerd, this sort of thing gets me more than most. Fantastic video concept, and go Pittsweden.

Also you were accidentally brilliant putting Cuse in Netherlands - the Dutch royal family is the House of Orange.
@christianboekhout34756 ай бұрын
Fellow geography nerd, western Sahara is much more a country than Greenland or Falkland. Claims independence and recognized by 46 nation and a full member of the African Union. One could say that Western Sahara is independent but partially occupied by Morocco. And like you said Greenland also makes sense cuz size. But Falkland islands?? 😅
@jasonglasser16216 ай бұрын
@@christianboekhout3475 yeah Western Sahara is in a bit of an odd situation - UN wise, no, but semi-yes depending on how you want to treat some places recognizing it. Few more odd ones in there like Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands that didn't make a ton of sense to include either when there were available countries, but I didn't want to harp too much on it because I'd rather not sound too negative over what was otherwise a solid concept
