Ich habe meinen Wehrdienst in Telgte bei Münster absolviert , 4. /Panzerbatallion 194 . Im Frühjahr 1975 wurde unser Bataillon für drei Wochen nach Shilo verlegt zum Scharfschiessen . Es war eine wunderschöne unvergleichliche Zeit , die ich nicht missen möchte . Danke für euren tollen Beitrag !

I'm a Canadian and served with the artillery I started in Shilo in 79. I was born in Germany and met and drank with many German soldiers. Good times.

My father was RCEME and we were stationed there after returning from Soest. We were in Shilo 1962 to 63 then were posted back to Germany. Anyone remember the jump tower? our next door neighbour ( MacDonald?) ran it. How about the parachute drops for kids...if you caught a small parachute and took it to the firehall, they gave you a silver dollar...I was too small to compete with other kids (I was only 4) so dont know exactly how that worked...only that I came close one time but had it grabbed away. Saw my first flying squirrel in Shilo and started school at Princess aElizabeth school just across the field from our brick bungalow...ahhh, memories!

It absolutely is. I was there for four years. boring as hell. Like the province its in.

My father can talk hour about his time there in 94. He is the kind of guy whonmajes freinds and that allowed him some awsome stuff like driving with the observing vehicle on a training with tanks and Infanterie. Driving in this little car between these 40 ton beasts.

Took my bmt/btt in 88 in shilo and the Germans sure can drink but were always ready to go on field at 4-5 am, awesome time...
