I thought Edmonton had a really bad kicker, but Saskatchewan should also start looking for a new one. I'm not sure how he has been so far this season, but today was a horrible day for him. I disagree with a lot of comments regarding the 11:55 and Montréal's quarterback's touch down, his foot was in bounds while it was on the ground. You can clearly see green grass between his foot and the line. Another great game, right down to the wire. Love the CFL. 🇨🇦

Saskatchewan did not deserve to lose. Davis Alexander is a winner. He played according to what the Riders team left on the field and won the game. Ouf, brutal kicker! His right shoe was too tight? It's called a single (or a Rouge). If the ball doesn't go through the uprights but gets out of the end zone or is not brought out of the endzone by the returner, one point is awarded. No point if the returner gets the ball out of the end zone or if the ball hits the uprights on the kick.

I was under the impression, the kicking team did NOT get one point because they missed; they got the point the defenders did not run the ball out of the end zone. (Think of it this way: the kicking team getting one point if the receiving team takes a touchback. That makes sense. If they are going to get the ball at the 35 (it's only fair the kicking team should get one point for forcing that decision). I was NOT aware however of a kicking team getting one point for kicking it over the end zone and a return not being possible. In my opinion, you should not be rewarded for your own incompetence.

Ok, I'll try to explain... The CFL never moved its goalposts like the NFL did so missed FGs must be returned. If the FG misses and the returner gets out of the end zone, there is no point awarded. However, just like a punt, if the play results in a touchback, the kicking team gets one point. The simplest way for an American to understand the rouge (1pt) is to think of it as the cost of a touchback. In Canadian football, touchbacks aren't free like in American football. If you just think of it as the cost of a touchback, it should make perfect sense.

Really? What lame excuse do you have for the last game? Is it also the officials' fault that the Green Riders are the biggest losers in CFL history with only four Grey Cups? Saskatchewan has played in 19 Grey Cup games and lost FIFTEEN of them. That's a tradition of losing son, not of bad officiating.

As a rider this was a great game ruined by the command center (I saw photos and screenshots of the Montreal qb out of bounds 15 minutes after the game ended)

It’s one of those plays where the call on the field would have stood one way or another. On one angle the QB looks to be out of bounds and on another he looks to be in bounds. As a neutral fan I can see why it might have been considered « inconclusive ».

You were forced to kick SEVEN field goals because you couldn't score... Your kicker missed four of them and you're whining about that call? Ok, let's say that it was called out of bounds. Now it's first-and-goal at the 5. Do you really think that the Als wouldn't have scored the way this game was going? All that would've changed is that you wouldn't have had time to get into FG range. Rider fans are like Leaf fans... Always blaming the refs when their own team just couldn't get it done.

@@AvroBellow even tho the riders were unable to score touchdowns they were still literally winning the game until the refs and command centre took over and allowed that touchdown with 30 seconds to go even tho the qb stepped out. And yes I am a leafs fan lol

Riders manhandled the Als. The Riders Kicker cost them 11 points plus the Missed FG return TD, 18 points total swing.. Riders lost by 3 should have won by 15. 3 missed FG's were run out of the end zone and there was no single point, and they lost by 3... Every Missed FG was makeable too. That's the CFL for ya. Go RedBlacks.

@@stephenp.6395 They basically handed the Galouettes 11 points on ST's and they won by 3. Riders got 1 single from the 4 missed chip shot FG's, the Al's had nothing to do with the missed kicks, made no plays, it was handed to them. The Missed FG return TD doesn't happen if they have a real kicker and the Final should have been 35-20 for the Riders. The Stat sheet also bears out the Riders dominance. Go to sleep on that if you want and we'll see what happens when the Gals come to Ottawa in a few weeks.. I'll look for you then...

The kicker didn't cost the Riders that touchdown, the WHOLE DAMN TEAM DID. Also, why the hell would you be on the Riders' side when THEY are the ones who vetoed you getting your proper team name instead of having to settle for a stupid name like REDBLACKS? Ottawa should be called the Rough Riders, not something ridiculous like REDBLACKS. (And yes, IIRC, it's supposed to be all caps which is even more dumb).

Been an Ottawa fan since Russ Jackson, Ronnie Stewart, Whit Tucker, Margene Adkins, Moe Racine Team lost to Sask. RR's and Ronnie Lancaster and George Reed in the 66 Grey Cup and responded by beating the Calgary Stampeders and Peter Liske in 68 and Returning the favor to Sask. in 69. Right thru the Renegades to this day. For me It has everything to do with the games being legit, not rigged and the league having talent instead of hackers then squabbling about a name. I'm just glad we have a team there again.. They actually look as close to the Ottawa Rough Riders as you can and I choose to live in the now, not whine about the past. I won't Not give a team their props because I don't like them like you obviously will. Sask. dominated the Gals who were lucky to get the win, although I'm sure they'll take it.

Well once again the football gods hate the Riders. If a flag is gonna fly at a crucial moment - it will be on the Riders. If a seasoned kicker is going to shit the bed in a winnable game - it will be the Riders. If someone is going to lose to an 0-7 team - it will be the Riders. Seen this show for decades. I also consistently get the feeling like the CFL also hates the Riders.

It's called karma. The Western Riders arrogantly vetoed Ottawa getting their proper team name back and so yeah, even though I'm an Als fan, I started hating the Green Riders as well. I've cursed the Riders that they will never win another Grey Cup until Ottawa is called the Rough Riders once more. After all, Ottawa had the name first so it really pissed me off when your team pulled a dick move like that. They gave some lame excuse about not wanting people to get mixed up when buying merchandise. Oh give me a f'n break! The two teams couldn't be more different because red is the opposite of green nd black is the opposite of white. I used to like the Green Riders. They were always the scrappy underdogs but after what I saw, they DESERVE their 4-15 Grey Cup record.
