When white got that h-passer, game was won . 9:08 Bishop was so much better supporting white rook and passed pawn than useless black knight jumping on queenside. Excellent master class from GM .

Fatality should have got rid of the e5 pawn that basically condemned her to play on the queenside for the entire game. On the other hand, I was quite surprised that Hummer didn't try to launch an attack thanks to the pin of the g pawn. The idea of e5 followed by f5 (clearing the f file) and Bh6 seemed quite scary to me (especially when I saw that Fatality never played the prophylactic Kh8 move).

@@jodsfox . .

It is a special move by a pawn called "en passant" (in passing). If you have a pawn on your 5th rank, your opponent's pawn on an adjacent file is on its original square, and he or she moves it 2 squares ahead so it is immediately beside your pawn you can capture it as if your opponent had only moved it 1 square. But you have to make the capture on your move immediately following your opponent's move of his or her pawn by 2 squares. If you make a different move first you can no longer capture their pawn en passant. Moreover your opponent must have moved his or her pawn 2 squares from its original square in one move. If he or she moves it first 1 square and then 1 more square on a subsequent move en passant capturing is not allowed.

Actually she put the pawn on b5 and he captured on b6. It is a special move by a pawn called "en passant". If you have a pawn on your 5th rank, your opponent's pawn on an adjacent file is on its original square, and he or she moves it ahead 2 squares so it is beside your pawn on the 5th rank you are allowed to capture the opponent's pawn as if he or she had only moved it 1 square. But you must do it on the move immediately after your opponent moved their pawn; if you play another move you no longer are allowed to capture their pawn en passant. Moreover your opponent must have just moved their pawn 2 squares from its original square; if he or she first moved it 1 square and then 1 more square on a subsequent move en passant capturing is not allowed. And of course the pawns must be on adjacent files so they are immediately beside each other. En passant was introduced centuries ago due to a change in rule regarding a pawn's move from its original square. Initially a pawn could only move 1 square at a time but to speed up the game the rule was changed to allow a player to move a pawn either 1 or 2 squares on its first move. But this would allow your opponnent's pawn to bypass your pawn without being able to capture it if your pawn is on your 5th rank and your opponent moves a pawn on an adjacent file 2 squares on its first move. So to allow a player to still capture their opponent's pawn in such cases en passant was introduced.

En passant is a special rule that allows pawns to capture pawns on adjacent tiles under special circumstances. According to FIDE, the governing body of chess, the rule goes like this: “A pawn attacking a square crossed by an opponent’s pawn which has advanced two squares in one move from its original square may capture this opponent’s pawn as though the latter had been moved only one square. This capture is only legal on the move following this advance and is called an ‘en passant’ capture.” It's best to see some examples - plenty on KZbin I expect.

@@CFNChannel Actually I like it like this - as long as there are no obstacles in the way so you can see the board properly and of course as long as you can see the clock also properly :) I enjoy the old school feeling just having it bare like this, no 2D board needed at least from my perspective 👌🏼

Well this what you get if you don't manage your time well, those fools wait till last second and then just move pieces wherever, how bad you gotta be in chess if you only have 2-3 sec left on your timer, terrible. I eat both of them any day
