People arguing that Alabama should have been in, because SMU and Indiana got blown out, have it wrong. The mistake isn't keeping Alabama out... it's putting too many teams into the playoff! There's no reason to have more than 8 teams playing for the title at the end of the season. It's incredible that CFB has still not figured out what was obvious more than 20 years ago! Teams like SMU, Indiana (and Boise or Clemson, for that matter), will NEVER have any chance of winning the NC! Cut the field to 8 teams, and you'll have one of the greatest playoff systems in the history of sports! Until they do that, CFB will continue to be a joke when it comes to deciding the title! Not 4... not 12, not 14, not 16... not 9..... EIGHT TEAMS EXACTLY!

Let's be realistic for a moment, here. Clemson dodged Eli Holstein (injured for Pitt), Georgia Tech, Miami, and Syracuse. They didn't even play Duke (yes, Duke had a horrible schedule, but they actually gave Miami and SMU some headaches). They fluked their way past SMU because their QB forgot how to play for the first 5 minutes of the game. Texas dodged Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama, South Carolina, and DJ Lagway (injured for Florida). There's been no end to the debate between Indiana/SMU and Alabama/Ole Miss/Miami/South Carolina/BYU (why BYU is here is beyond me), but not a lot of conversation about these two. Are we really certain Texas is one of the four best teams, here? Or that Clemson is even a Top 4 team in the ACC? I'd think on this before Texas plays Arizona State. The only other times they played a Top 12 team, they lost.
