“PSU wasn’t even competitive against OSU.” It was never more than a one score game against #2 in the country. Yes their play-calling inside the 5 was horrendous, but that has no bearing on it being competitive. My goodness, surprised all your arms haven’t broken carrying the water for Notre Dame.

I don’t mind a 3 loss team making the playoffs, but it would have to be a conference champion. After looking at the SEC teams non conference schedule and with them only playing 8 conference games that conference should be capped at 3 teams no matter what they are ranked or how many wins they have, because they’re not on an equal playing field as the rest of the POWER 4 conferences….. ND shouldn’t receive an automatic home game unless they are ranked in the top 5 because they’re not in a conference…

The SEC teams are over ranked by the coaches poll and the media polls because only a few of their teams have tough non conference schedules, while the rest of them have worse schedules than the other teams…

21:15 brad's point is whats been wrong with college football. In his opinion the field is now open to more undeserving teams according to his feelings. If i can remind people of 2012. That was the year a "mediocre", "non-deserving" ny giants team beat the undefeated patriots in the super bowl. The patriots were the best team that entire season except for when it mattered the most. I'm willing to bet the people who defend the status quo in FBS would, with a straight face, say they'd rather have a perfect record but lose the super bowl like the patriots as opposed to winning the super bowl with a 9W-7L record like the giants that year. I think the more viewers FBS draws in, the more people will see just how flawed an opinion-based system is.

Notre Dame is dominant. They beat 4 top ranked teams and 2 undefeated teams. They also beat louisville and a&m at their stadium and gerogia tech who beat miami. 😂

Don't worry- among Texas, Notre Dame, Miami, South Carolina and TENN at least 3 of these teams will lose...because they're playing a team with winning record @ road. Don't be surprised if 4 of the above 5 lose, not because they are playing a better team, just because they are playing an above average team on the road. BTW, all the home teams in the first round of playoff will also win.....and not because they are the better team but because winning a non-conference game on the road is almost impossible. Can't believe that NCAAF couldn't come up with 4 neutral sites for 1st round because after all, the ranking is still subjective...highly dependent on perceived SOS and schedule managing to evade tough road games. Almost, all of these "great' wins by "playoff" teams are "home" games....with perhabs less than 5 combined tough road wins among all the top 12 ranked teams.

Here's the deal...a 3 loss Alabama or SC is still a BETTER team than a 1 or 2 loss team in weaker conferences such as Mountain West and even the ACC.

If you truly want to make college football have a legitimate playoff do it like the NFL. I mean, college football isn’t amateur sports anymore anyway. Use every bowl game to seed the teams and have the playoffs come from the winners of those games! You will accomplish 2 things by doing that. First; the bowl games are meaningful; and second, the players will actually play them!
