I worked on most of the animation for that opening. This was done sometime between 1978 and 1981 or so. Paul Fierlinger was the producer/director. Stuart Horn wrote the lyrics. The rotating cube was actually rotoscoped from a computer generated rotating cube I made several years earlier.

I worked on the sets and props for the show from 85-92 when it ended. If your name wasn't mentioned that's my fault

@@Sabocat Don’t worry. I don’t blame you. At that time I worked for Paul Fierlinger. He was considered the “animator”. He animated the bees, I did the rest of it under his direction.

I saw the last few years of the KTVU version of Romper Room and this intro never left my head. 🥲 So cool to see comments from someone who had a part in it. By the way, do you know what Kimble was supposed to be? He looked to me like Grimace's cousin or something (but I know that can't actually be the case). :P
@circusitch3 ай бұрын
@@ReturnofTheBunny I don’t know. I won’t say it was copied, but there’s certainly countless examples in various media of characters “inspired” by other characters.

I miss the days when adults were nicer to children, i loved the host of Romper Room because she was always so cheerful and happy. Teachers back in the 80's were the same way as well i miss these days.

I agree. I dont know and dont understand what happened to people. Its like everyone lost their compassion and caring about everything and now they are just mean and angry all the time.

TMI (Too Much Information) induced into society where we, as a species, are not genetically capable of comprehending it all, which leads to a fragment-thought process and frustration. That's the price of living in the convenience of modern technology nowadays.

Romper Room (and Friends) was one of the more successful “franchised” TV shows of it’s kind back in the early days of the medium. This version on CTV likely outlasted them all, most US versions faded away by the mid-1980s.

This wasn't just shown in Canada. It was also shown on many syndicated channels in the USA. I remember when WGRZ TV-2 in Buffalo had this on it's station. They showed this on Saturday mornings around 7:30am before the NBC network's Saturday morning cartoons came on. It wasn't the Romper Room from my childhood, but it was still fun themed.

But I was more into Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow 🌈 And know, this was on long before the 80s (I'm a real 80s fan)..but, in 84..I was 8..& I was getting too old for shows like this..and, I didn't realize it was a Canadian show 🍁 But I did like Mr. Dress up(Ernie Coombes)..However, when he no longer Casey & Finnigan..it wasn't the same..

There's a reason why Miss Molly is the most well known and popular of all the Romper Room hosts.
@chrismulwee49112 жыл бұрын
When Molly became host, that's when this new original theme song was written. In pervious seasons various renditions of Pop Goes The Weasel were used. Also in an above stated comment Molly was also Granny Cat's voice. Whether or not she was the actual puppeteer I don't really know

Kids don't understand the meaning to the song, they just see it as jumping around in a circle. Same thing with Jack and Jill I don't understand what part if any has to do with sex but some pissed off lobbyist group thinks a bunch of 3-5 yr old kids are going to decipher meanings in these songs.
