I love how the three species often portrayed as adversaries are working together here--especially the cat, who almost seems to the the culprit in the beginning, playing with the feather, until he sees the foot. Their interactions are so cute! (Even considering the subject lol)

I would like to see a series of these. In each one the characters investigate the mundane activities of humans that are highly shocking to animals. Perhaps a mouse gets killed by rat poison, or a racoon gets caught in a trap by thr dumpster.

I think I get what happened. The animals all think that a murder took place. That's why they all turned detective. But the case turns out to have just been a perfectly normal preparation of a roast chicken.

So ... all the nods to Hitchcock's Rear Window, I got five, the wheelchair opened it right up at the begining, the music, the still shots of 'rear windows', the squee, squee, squee that morphed into the canaries swing, and the obvious silhouette in the last frame. Any true Hitchcockians out there? There's possibly lots more? Anybody?? The characterisations are truely wonderful though. I'd watch more of these as a series of animal whodunnits!!

As wonderfully done as this is, neither the dog or cat would find anything odd about a chicken leg, head or a roasted one. They would both be enjoying a good gnaw on them or pieces of the cooked chicken afterwards. Only the pigeons would be distressed. Still a fun and creatively done short with an excellent nod to Hitchcock.

I suppose it was to keep more in theme with the rear window thing (ive never seen it but plenty of comments mentioned it) but, that person is bad at prepping chickens. It’s supposed to be a very quick process so the bird definitely wouldn’t have made noises like that for so long. Also leaving the bird alone for a bit, i wonder what they were doing they just left raw chicken on the table with a window open. (Again, these “complaints” are probably just things to fit more into what it was an homage to)
