Well after watching that (along with your other videos) and constantly failing whilst trying to emulate that route, it indeed does confirm that I was no loss to the Air Force as a Pilot and was much better suited to a career in Stores 😁 I did quite a few back seat flights whilst at Valley many many years ago (when the sky seemed full of T1's ) but I wouldn't even begin to assume that the Flight model is accurate but is certainly looks the part. However, living in that area, I can say that the mapping most certainly is, and I can accurately point out and recognize virtually all the areas and features whilst I fly around certainly above a height above 250' height (lowish spec graphics card) below 250' is usually when I suffer an unplanned landing. Brilliant and informative videos, please Keep them coming.👍👍

The lighting in Microsobo's WorldSimulation is designed with HDR in mind, meaning the differences between dark and bright are pretty wide, even if HDR isn't active. The mountain you mentioned that appeared to be black is only a harsh shadow, which considering the contrast between bright sunshine and the steep hill and the sun angle these days should be pretty realistic. If it appears black you have to adjust the brightness/contrast of your monitor if you don't see any details as it isn't simulated as dark. Therefore some newer games ask you for a simple form of screen calibration to get the brightness/contrast to levels that are appropriate to display the game correctly. Just adjust Brightness/contrast/gamma and if your panel isn't the cheapest TN version ... the dark mountains of MachLoop will be gone. 😉💙 Thanks for your service!
@cgaviator2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the explanation. I did however try to change the sun able to illuminate the hillside and it still appear void of detail.
@rakon84962 жыл бұрын
You made me curious, i went for a round in the Mach Loop. Seems as the bing imagery itself containing these really dark shadows, yet the dark sides of the hills are not completely black and you can see some structure and height profile under it. Maybe this imagery has been taken at spring or autumn or at least too late at the evening when shadows are intense. Unfortunately the data from Bing is far from perfect and sometimes outdated, maybe that is something we have to live with to some degree as they don't have just one set of world maps, they are using up to 21 layers of different LOD's, several sets of maps with different resolution. Pretty sure in regions like the norwegion fjords you will find this more often. Hopefully these issues will be solved over time either through better maps or with artifical reforestation... 💙

That was fab, a favourite part of the world for me for a myriad of reasons. I used to stay at a cottage above Llanbedr when it was active and I've stayed in some of the valleys that the USAF and RAF used for Afghanistan topography simulation. The Talyllyn lake with a Herc or two over flying low level is impressive too. One of my older friends served with the RA and did some courses on 25 pounders in the area on some old ranges - I forget the name (not sure if it was Tonfanau?) My grandad was also RA by the time of WWII (he was BEF fighting the Waffen SS). So my partner and I went to take a look by driving some of those hairy little roads (with signs warning you not to get out because of ancient unexploded ordinance (she was having kittens when I did). Whilst I was outside of the car, I heard a lone jet, a Tornado iirc. So I waved to see if he/she would see me and I'd get a wing waggle. My partner told me not to be so daft. I replied, if I was out and about in a Tornado, and saw a little red car half way up and mountain? I'd use it for target practice (hope above hope, remembering my dad's school teacher's son was a Mosquito pilot and would do little displays for the school when he could)😉😳😄🤞 And.....that's exactly what he/she did, mock strafing runs, 2-3 times, iirc. I was cracking up (I got an autogyro to do the similar once, I could also have a conversation with him as he was low, slow and open cockpit, both parties were laughing😄👍). Anyways, I waved at the Tornado on their last run and surprise, surprise he/she, returned and waggled the wings before leaving the area. Fantastic! My partner was gobsmacked🙄😄 I'm sure that was all outside of regs and procedure, but some opportunistic strafing runs surely was a good use of tax payers' money, we all did our bit for defence of the realm that day (if ever we are invaded by little red cars - as opposed to already having been invaded by the CCP🧐😳🙄) 😄😄👍✌️ The only other thing that came close was the BoB Lancaster overflying our house, about 600'+/-, banking hard, sun glinting off of the glass - twice✌️👍😊
@cgaviator Жыл бұрын
That was great to read, thank you! Love it when interaction goes both ways! And yes, whenever I’ve seen someone camped out on the ridge line in the drizzle, I’m always sure to give them a pass! Within regs of course! 😁

You can enter from anywhere, but unless you’re flying south to north, it usual to enter from the north. Awesome vid, loved it. Really enjoyed your thoughts as you were flying - nice insight into the processes. I always see Hawks overhead in South Wales, I think they use the water tower on Townhill, Swansea as a reference point? Had some F15s doing the same route a few months back as well, always great to see.

Sublime. Great to see and learn how this is flown properly. I'm thrilled you'll go through the planning so we can round out our airmanship. It takes a lot of work to edit videos, so thanks for the effort you clearly put in to make it all flow. You're probably aware of the free video recording tool OBS Studio but if not you may want to check it out, it doesn't seem to add to much stutter for me (also capturing to a fast M.2 SSD makes a difference if your motherboard and wallet support it). I've subbed to your channel too, so you have another fan :)

@@cgaviator I'm a Patreon of Tim Davies' Fast Jet Performance. Get yourself a Patreon set up and we can help get you that SSD if you don't have one already. I hope to see you and Tim do at least one T.1 race around the Mach Loop at some point. Did you ever get any complaints from the locals about noisy low flying aircraft?. Also how realistic is all this.
@cgaviator2 жыл бұрын
I’ve had plenty of complaints in my time! Visually it’s all very realistic! Flight dynamics suffer as a result of the base sim programming but other than the trimming and maybe a few details here or there, it’s pretty darn good!

I lived just south of KSSC Shaw AFB SC which also is a large bombing range and some high speed low level airways. Tons of F-16s, Apaches and occasionally A-10s. Incredible how the wildlife gets accustomed to the roar. Sitting there on the lake watching birds/squirrels/ and then the sound of air being split in two, then B O O M... The F-16's F100 overloads the senses, rattles your organs and then it is gone. Then the sound of chirping, insects and the squirrel sitting there opening a nut. Bizarre

Well described indeed! Incredible how it all passes so quickly! Used to live under a well trodden route and as a kid (and maybe adult also) I had about 5 second from hearing the jet coming to having a chance to see it outside the house! 😅
