Sitting in my living room in a cold scotland being warmed by the wonderment of this fabulous piece of music

To quote the great Kurt Vonnegut: "the only proof he needed, for the existence of God, was music". IMHO, no truer words have ever been written, spanning all genres, composers and instruments both great and small.

Did see the vid now for the 50th time (felt) and can't stop listening to this rendition of the song - really amazing symbiosis between Ed and his instrument, absolutely love it! I wish I could play the lap steel like this.

I haven’t hear of Ed Gerhard. But I have heard a few versions of ‘Killing the Blues’ as it’s one of my favourites. Ed Gerhard, you’ve done a poetic and masterful piece. Just love it!

Nice and contemplative version of a great song. Resonates with a lot of folk (me included). The theme of laughing through one's tears. Lots of artists do a nice job singing it, too.

Spectacularly beautiful. Completely disagree with his interpretation of the feel of the song however. To me, it's a sober and thoughtful recounting of the fierce dichotomy between internal feelings and actual outward behavior, and these lyrics are every bit as important as the music.

Long & McQuaid has one for $575, but it's a modern copy. Looks like the originals haven't been made for about sixty years. I imagine prices are all over the map depending on quality and age. Good luck!
