There are some really great things you do from a pedagogical standpoint. You invite the viewer to practice, you tell them when to hyper focus, and you tell them when to just watch you first and then try themselves after. Really fantastic.

Thanks for making this series. In case no one has told you this, the fact that you consistently remind us to keep our eyes on the video before doing something new is incredibly helpful for people like me who have ADHD and lose focus easily. I liked and subscribed because of it, and am actually able to learn this without constantly getting distracted mostly because of that one factor. I also appreciate how you break everything down into bite-sized steps and then after showing us what to do, it is great when you walk us through it again when it is our turn to do it. There's quite a lot of things I enjoy about this tutorial, such as reminders that certain steps are only there to apply muscle memory for certain tasks. One thing that I think could make this better is getting the followers of the tutorial to apply shortcuts, rather than navigating menus for most things. Instead of clicking on the Extrude tool, clicking out when done, etc., someone could just click E, then not have to worry about making sure the select mode is active afterwards, just as an example. As someone with extreme ADHD, this video does a great job of getting users to pay attention for certain parts, and letting them know when to pay attention and when to actually do the steps you describe.

I really like how you point out the times you want me to focus and not run off and do something. In most other tutorials I find I have to repeat too often and switch my focus between watching and doing. WIth you tutorial I get a kick in the pants when I need to watch the video instead of trying to keep up in the tool.

@@xxEbonyShardxx best way to learn is to just dive in... i started with a cup, from there i started to learn to manipulate cubes... i quickly realized you can be creative and form absolutely anything. So i went from a cup to spaceship to 3d human. i did great on them all, even the 3d human was used in a video game by lion studios or something like that. Just don't be afraid to get in over your head. things i find that make learning easier, how to use shapes to form things up rough and just keep smoothing them and then switch to wire mesh and form details by moving the mesh vertices(made it easy for me), then i used sculpting brushes with very light power to them, so i could get comfortable with brushes doing wrinkles and other fine details. Been like 8 years since i played in blender, but it only took me 6 months and i was at a professional level. now i just have to remember everything and its all moved from like blender 2.3, which is fine. the hard part is taught in this video and its about getting familiar with locations of menu's, shape manipulation and hotkeys. You want crazy complex, i can give you very hard things to do. go make airplane hull, then add wings as a separate part, then keep adding each piece as its own part from the parent object hull. learn to do organization with parts and it will have you pre setup to start learning to animate parts or even program them to be destructible in pieces in a game engine. then you'll be on your way to cgi quality stuff and start learning to build stage scenes :) i'm not making his sword for 2-3 hours, i can tell you that... i'll benefit more from something fast paced throwing the shortcut keys in corner. Its all just memorizing where stuff is and the rest is your imagination

Most tutorials aren't very active and effective, I just want people to show me all the things to do in a fast and straightforward way that makes sense and explains when necessary. When I first tried learning blender, the tutorials were overwhelming for me. I had zero experience with 3D and I was always lost. Since then, I haven’t used blender in years, and I’m trying it again now that I have a lot more experience in this field. I still have the basics memorized, so your tutorials feel very slow for me. You’d spend a good 3 minutes explaining how to extrude a shape, and I’d do it in 2 seconds. But I love that. Maybe if I found your tutorial when I first started, I wouldn’t have quit Blender then. You explain everything in details without expecting us to know anything beforehand, and it’s easy to follow along. for those struggling on the min 52:00, if the proportional editing is stretching the whole object instead of just the 4 dots part then you should try hitting G and then middle mouse scroll until you see a circle appear, that circle shows the area that the scale is... scaling. By the way if you by any chance have selected an object and you accidentally typed "H", the object is now hidden so don't panic and hold "alt+H", the object will re-appear.

Dude, I love your tutorials, they're so helpful as someone with ADHD, especially the hyper focus parts. Most tutorials, just go too fast, or too slow, or skim over things like short cuts and just expect people to know things, I struggled a lot learning Cinema 4D and 3DS Max, but following these tutorials is so simple and I am learning so much so thank you. I am facing an issue, I can't find ambient occlusion where you find it. I am on Blender 4.2 so I think it might be different.

I found the section going over the Edit mode tools very interesting because I had never heard of an Inset Tool, but I had been doing the exact same thing for ages by extruding and then scaling the selection, so I'm already super used to just pressing E then S to inset. A tip I learned from another tutorial is to dubbel-click a vertex which selects all vertices from the same cut. So now it also selects the vertices of that cut on the back of the shape.

00:56:35 - Guard Edge: If you're finding that your guard looks edgy after creasing the edge, I suggest redoing the guard. I encountered the same problem, and my guess is that it might be due to not selecting the vertices correctly during the guard extrusion at 48:40. Make sure to box-select the vertices accurately for a cleaner result.

In my case, the curved part of the guard was looking spiky, with the vertex staying in their place and the faces smoothed. I redid as you suggested, and all was ok the second time. I'm pretty sure that i followed all the instructions with no error … but who knows? Anyway, thanks!!!

@01:10:33 one has to scale the 5 vertices into a star shape. Somehow my scaling was taking the last selected vertex as the center of the scaling. Solved it by adding a face to the 5 vertices, then scale the face, then remove the face again. Edit: one can toggle the behavior by changing the 'pivot point'. You can find it directly left to the magnet ('snap') icon.
