Wow, loved the way the viewer was transported slowly through the streets ... then that part of transporting from hospital to grave ... both excellently done because it was such a gentle flow. The inventor was compelled to invent and loved his wife too. The wife loved him and his dreams. So together each gave their life in one way or another to add something beautiful to the world.

I’m glad that, for once, this isn’t a story about a man who is too obsessed with his work that he neglects his loved ones. Even though he was very excited about his invention, he still loved his wife very dearly. When he thought he was finished with his invention, he very excitedly wanted to show his wife.
@haqeeqee5 жыл бұрын
Actually, while I’m not an inventor myself, I am pretty good with my hands and can build lots of little contraptions out of wood. As a husband, I can tell you that I get 10 times more excited to show my wife and impress her with the things I build than anyone else. If I didn’t have a cute wife to show off my skills to, I wouldn’t be nearly as motivated to keep building things. 😁

I was just working on an essay about the trifles play by Susan Glaspell. I had to answer questions about how women were seen in the eyes of men. This film reminds me of those questions. The wife was so under appreciated. She gave him encouragement, he shut her down. When she ask to move on from the invention and to be content about what he achieved, he snapped at her. He was only nice to her when he took HER idea and his invention worked. He should have been more grateful to her, but I also feel bad for him too.

That’s life! Life is too short. Either you put your whole energy in your family, or you put it in a higher purpose. That man was going to invent color films, his wife noticed how important that was for humankind, and so she kept it a secret that she will die soon. It’s sad that it ended like that, but so he was able to finish his work. If all geniuses would spend more time for family than for a higher purpose, we wouldn’t move on. Everything has its price, and sometimes you have to pay a very high price. Lots of very famous genius of our time paid such a high price, so that others have a better life and future.
