I watched this short film and was very touched. After reading it many times, I found more details and learned more about this story. It was really daunting. The boy and the girl met to get married, then the boy went to the army before the wedding night, leaving the girl alone in the room. Then the boy died and the comrades found this photo while dealing with the remains. The short film recalled the contents of the boy and the girl. After the boy left, the girl had been waiting at home, often writing to the boy, but did not receive a reply from the boy. The girl waited for spring, summer, autumn and winter until she was old. At the beginning of the short film, the girl stayed in the pavilion and waited for the boy when she got older.

This short film and a lot of details, it is worth to watch it again.

I could feel her , see I'm from syria and I lost some friends because of the war . One of my friends went to her house and in the next day she didn't show up in the school, after week the teacher told us that she died . It was so hard to believe, she wasn't even my friend she was only a classmate but it was shocking cuz we were only 14 years old. I still remember her face, she was killed by a sniper who was standing on the roof of the building opposite to her building, Where she was shot in the skull and her twin sister was shot in her leg . She died but her twin sister lived, a few weeks later her sister came to school but many of the students were annoying her and telling her how you could live in peace while your sister is dead, the girl didn't came to the school anymore and the last time I saw her was in 2012 . Now it's 2017 all most 2018 and I still remember thier story. Don't know what to say .... Would you let us live in peace please, cause I'm so fucking done with this dark world I just want to have a normal life like any other person on this damn planet

Even though I don't understand the language I know that this song is a very powerful love, loss song. Im pretty sure the person with the white hair at the beginning was the girl, and I'm sure the guy died because if the Japanese soldier found him alive they would kill him, because their target is the Chinese soldiers so eventually they wouldn't let any Chinese soldiers live. Well to put that aside the girl is loyalty asf, u can tell when she spent all her years waiting for the love of her life that is when u know it's true love and was always meant to be.

While it is true that is has been written that the world started in chaos and will most likely return to chaos in the end, that doesn't mean it was a balance. If you have only one thing of something, there is no balance, there is just that one thing. Order came to balance the chaos. Just like light balances out the darkness and death balances out life.

The worst part about this is that it's historically accurate to the wartimes between China and Japan. Many times were couples, families, torn apart because of the required military services at the times. Mothers lost sons, daughters, lost fathers, wives lost husbands, friends lost friends. It was terrible. I won't say whether or not any of the conflict was necessary; I'll just say that I wish there were other ways to settle the conflicts that didn't involve so much loss. Not just for the China-Japan wars, but for all wars. If only there could be any other way...

This is a beautiful short, one that cannot be described in just mere words. It is able to convey a sense of sorrow and empathy in only a few scenes. Not only does this animation wow you with great art is also surprises you with the amazing art of it's storytelling. In books, and animation it takes a lot of skill to be able to present a death and have it stick, and really hit the viewer/readers emotions. In some forms of writing/art people doubt a character's deaths but this animation "Song of the Rain" can move you and make the death believable in only 9:00 minuets. I tip my hat off to all the people who worked on this, truly amazing.

This made me tear up and get emotional. The old lady in the beginning was the girl. So they met on a rainy day and fell in love over the years, they spent many great years together but when the was between Japan and China came, the boy left to serve in the military for Chinese. He always had the picture of he and the girl with him at all times to remember her. But he was shot and killed while trying to save someone if I get my facts right. The girl was waiting for him all this time. In the video when he was about to die, he reached for the photograph of him and the girl, his one love forever no matter what happens, even in heaven he will always love her and wait for her until he can finally hold her in his arms once again. The girl was and always will be loyal to him. That is why she waited for him all these years and as you can see in the beginning of the video (I said this already) the white haired lady was the girl sitting where they first met and just waiting to see him again. This was so sad. WHO’S CUTTING THE ONIONS!!!! COME OUT RIGHT NOW!!!!

y'all how much I'm crying, not just a drips of water, real leaks of salty tears and nose dripping. I honsetly didn't expect this, I thought it was a happy short BUT NO, the pic of them together just hit hard, he thought of her before he died....and now she sits alone on their doorstep, her heart hopeful to hear the news was fake, to see her lover slowly crouch down and wipe her tears....tell her everything's okay...... she'll have to wait to see her lover again..... GOSH CANT STOP CRYING I love asian stuff so that killed me too Great short film, I loved the graphics, only wish it ended more happier, but all things don't end good sadly, we can only hope for the best

This beautiful CGi movie Captured my heart, it shows that Life is so precious grab every chance you can get, take every opportunity take a leap of faith as when you least expect it your life could change, friendship is precious to have and everlasting friendships always remain printed in your heart. war is NEVER good, I come from a war torn country, war causes suffering, destruction, showing you how inhumane people can be to one another, death, great sadness, loss of lives and grief, for those left behind healing and re building your life is just part of it. living your life to the full to make those who you have lost proud which they would want you to you do that is the final step, shine a BRIGHT light for them. Beautiful work bravo
