Strangely enough regarding the "giant monsters destroy the entire city" battle, Sym-Bionic Titan is probably one of the few cartoons to play that kinda thing super _realistically._ Literally in the second episode, there's a mile-wide crater in the middle of the city from the _first_ episode's monster fight, with reconstruction of the area being visible for several episodes further, and the Titan trio make it a priority in all subsequent episodes to get the fight as far away from civilization _first_ (out into the woods, or the sea, etc) before then proceeding to Hero Time. Better hope Bellwood's paid up on their anti-Tokustar insurance!

@The OxyScape Not to mention that while they didn't do a good job, the military was consistently trying to step up and stop the monsters. The art was a bit jank on humans at times, especially the faces, but there was good storytelling, interesting characters, and great fights. Another show that could have been more. Another one where a failing in toy sales is not the show's fault. I mean, with the number of weapons, modes, and features, there was considerable room to make toys, and that's before the monsters, the agents, and the military superweapons.

I genuinely love the texturing of the aliens in this; all the different uniforms of Ben's aliens, Fourarms being ripped and vascular, the stone-esque look to Diamondhead and Tetrax, the metallic look of the galvanic mechamorphs, etc. The details are so good

Ben 10 Destroy all Aliens was originally not canon but Omniverse made it canon. In the first episode of Omniverse, 11 year old Ben made a comment to Malware about fighting a Galvanic mecamorph (Upgrade) before which references to Destroy All Aliens.

As someone who works in 3D modeling and animation, this movie is really impressive on an artistic level. The modles are able to morph *really* well even though the models aren't super dense (As you can see with the sharp points when Upgrade puddles or morphs sometimes). I'd like to touch on the shots where Ben is missing the omnitrix - Alot of the time, things like clothing and accesories aren't connected to the model since they got modeled seperately, and get grouped with the model later on so they can be togled as needed.

I believe they used the Alien Force Way Big design because: 1. It's less "busy", more streamlined and simplistic than the OG design. Easier on the CGI. 2. To sort of facilitate the film's placement between the OG and AF. We get classic designs for the other aliens, but we also get AF Way Big and a slight call-forward to anodites.

I REALLY LOVED THIS MOVIE! In fact, it's the reason why I got back into Ben 10 after so many years. I even remember sticking a picture of 3D upgrade on my notebook, which one guy in my class took one look at and called me a baby because I still liked watching "kids shows" like Ben 10. I was in sixth grade. Now that liking anime and cartoons is now considered popular because of memes and social media I was shocked at the complete 180 most people did from middle school to now where they cosplay or quote stuff from cartoons regularly.

At 37:41 the two theories given is that "Galvans Age backwards" and the cloning explanation, but Galvans aging backwards is literally disproven by Grey Matter himself, since he's presumably the equivalent of a 10-year-old Galvan. and he's already younger than Azmuth. So I think the cloning explanation works much better.

I like to think Gwen used the locator spell first here, then when she says she first used it in Alien Force, she's referring to using it that way. The fact that he doesn't like Jetray is something the fans came up with, it's never anything he said. The only alien he openly admits not liking is Fasttrack.

One thing I noticed about this movie during this breakdown is that the alien characters returning in this movie were chosen to save on creating new assets. You have Bad Way Big, who is a recolor of Way Big, Dadsmuth and Azmuth, who are the same model modified, the Retaliator, who in his regular form is a recolored Upgrade, and Tetrax, who is just the Diamondhead model with new clothes.

I doubt it's the reason they thought of while animating it, but remember how when the Omnitrix turns you into an alien, it scales with age? Maybe Ben is a 10 year old To'kustar, while Azmuth was a *1000+* year old To'kustar, hence why the Retalitor Armor's attacks are more effective against Ben, while less effective against Azmuth. Also on a seperate side note, I'm surprised you didn't mention that this is when Ben's supposed scratch guard for the Omnitrix falls off, which is why Waybig's Omnitrix dial isn't white like the previous aliens.

Damn, I had to check to make sure, but you're right, in the beginning all of Ben's aliens' dials are white, but around the Stonehenge fight it becomes green, with Stinkfly and Waybig both having green dials, and Stinkfly has a white one earlier in the movie meaning it definitely was intentional, pretty cool lol

As for Gwen in this movie, I think she was using mostly magic. the locating spell was probably a verbal magic spell that she said prior to the scene showing her, As for alien force Gwen thought she had some mastery or control over none verbal - magic (even though it was just her anodite heritage showing) so she is probably referring to the fact she is using a non-verbal locating spell while directly using an object to track without while having no experience how it works, also not understanding she is using mana to track living things, also not knowing whether she is non-verbal magic or her powers. As for the portal, again she used a verbal spell + her knack for mana manipulation prolly made it easy for her to cast the spell easily. As for alien force again she was using mostly her anodite powers mostly without any verbal incantation, and her control over her powers wasn't bad but wasnt at opening dimensional portals normally. This was why it prolly took her a while to master this without any actual spell casting for the first part of AF until the second half when she summoned a portal without speaking against Charmcaster(her powers). To back up my explanation every time she used spells or her spell book she was able to go back in one try and when grandpa max gave her the old spell book she used, she teleported them instantly using the teleportation spell she read out loud(Abeo Exorior).

I like to think the reason for azmuth's dad to have so many extra abilities is because it's mechamorph armor and not an actually a galvanic mechamorph and azmuth designed it specifically with extra abilities.

My earliest memory of DAA is mixed with SOTO. It was made with SOTO art style, Gwen used a spell on the omnitrix while Ben was Upgrade, and Tetrax came to Earth to take Upgrade to space. I also don't have any memory of Azmuth or Waybig in either movies so when I rewatch SOTO for the first time in almost a decade, I was surprised to find out that was how he got Waybig

Maybe to explain Gwen's tracking spell being first used in DAA, she was tracking Ben who she is related to and has a connection with. In Alien Force she was tracking someone foreign to her family. You could say before Alien Force she was only familiar with tracking family members and/or people she had a close connection with. Either way great breakdown, i admit i skipped RAT, DAA and AS when i rewatched the franchise some time ago, but these breakdowns have helped me appreciate the franchise more. Can't wait for AF Instead of Wildmutt they probably could have brought back either Ditto or Benwolf, I can see both of them being featured.

With Gwen's locating spell, I always felt like it was Alien force as the first time she attempted to track something via essence and energy signatures. In classic she always used some sort of incantation so she may have been using a spell instead of just trying to track his mana and the spell wasn't working because Ben was too far away

On the contrary, I believe the purpose of the dream battle was to remind fans who the classic aliens were, since this was made during the alien force and ultimate alien time period, some fans would’ve been confused on why he wasn’t using aliens like humongusaur or ultimate versions. I REALLY love the models in this movie. Like, Ben and Gwen look AMAZING, the Rustbucket looks awesome, and all of the aliens look great. Shiny Upgrade, all of Heatblast, the textures on Diamondhead (and Tetrax), it's all amazing. I wish we had access to these models so we could mess around with them, but that's probably NEVER going to happen. I'd love to be wrong about that though.

Here’s a theory for Galvin aging. Given that we have Ben (a kid) as a young Galvin, and Azmuth’s dad as a young Galvin, perhaps they are born young and age like normal, but after a certain point their ageing reverses and they become physically younger again? TLDR: Galvin ageing is like a bell curve

I really like the internet theory that the whole 'Dadzmuth being younger than Azmuth' thing is based on an animal called the immortal jellyfish, which resets its lifecycle whenever it gets damaged, hence the immortal part. Just something that would be cool to have in an alien species.

About the Galvan's crazy aging, i always imagined that they aged normally ,but when they get super old ,their life cycle would restart, reverting into tadpoles ,and their knowlege would be turned into the basic thoughs of the tadpole ,now with free space to learn more things, because you know ,the more we learn the wiser we get ,and the point in life we learn more is when we are young, the galavans becaming younger again would allow they to live so long and they to be so more inteligent than the other species, and then ,Azmuth father would look younger just because he has already gone to the begining again,and Azmuth being really youger didn't get to that phase already

I like to think Galvans sort of age on a bell curve, because Grey Matter is a representation of a 10 year old Galvan, Azimuth is thousands of years old, and Dadsmuth is likely thousands of years older, but Dadsmuth looks almost the same age as Grey Matter. Thus, the bell curve aging model.

I remember this releasing online years ago around the time Omniverse was being teased, and being really excited for it. I also remember being really concerned when I watched it about how many people were probably dead because of the Way Big battle. I never realized that it was because of that destruction that Undertown was built, that elevates this movie a little bit in my eyes.

I think the Omnitrix was missing so that it reflected Ben being inside the Omnitrix during the dream - and the true error was them replacing it with the model that was wearing the Omnitrix in later shots.

I can’t help but point a couple things out, sorry if I sound nitpicky or pedantic. 1. When grey matter first appears in this movie his omnitrix is missing. 2. We know that azmuth ran away from home and lived in isolation for years on that planet they found him on in secret of the omnitrix, so his dad wouldn’t know about the omnitrix, the aliens on incarcicon know about the omnitrix through rumours, they don’t know what it looks like, only what it can do and that’s how they realise what it actually is in that scene

The rumours most likely originated from the fact that many considered the Omnitrix a new superweapon, something many criminals would appreciate to have, and Azmuth was probably viewed as a shady character due to him, you know, living on some unknown to most planet and being the constructor of said "superweapon"

I don't think the sequence is pointless, I think it sells how horrible it is that the Omnitrix is going haywire. Like, we do actually get Ben's aliens turning on him in this movie, with how other people are turned into aliens. But that's not just it, this watch is part of his body. If something bad is happening to it, something bad is happening to Ben. Like with Ghostfreak, this watch doesn't just transform his body, it can affect his brain, make him have nightmares.

The only problem I can see with the age backwards thingy is the fact that Azmuth's father looks just like Greymatter, even though Greymatter is the equivalent to a 10 year old Galvan. Also the fact that Driba states he once was a little tadpole. Only explanation I could see other than the cloning, which I personally feels to unethical for the good guys to use (hence why Vreedles uses it instead and you basically removing the will of an innocent organism to transport your consciousness into), is that the beard looking tendrils aren't actually a trait of oldness, but of youth, kinda like how tails are to tadpoles. When they grow older, the body simply absorbs back the tendrils. Though this would mean they don't have them, grow them, then lose them

I was high standards kid and I saw it once and thought "this looks weird". 2012 woulda been around the time of Avengers and Brave (...I liked brave, gets a bit too much hate IMO) so yea. But 10 years later and some creative experience (not an artist but work with them), yea. For a budget of a TV movie, it's actually pretty good, especially all the mechamorph animation which is a pain to do in 3D. I still think there's something off, but it's more on the lighting and compositing than the animation (which is actually really good). That's probably as good as it'll look in 2012 without Avengers money tho.

I think importance should have a 1 not only because it foreshadowed Gwen as half anodite (even though it was already a thing when this movie came out) but because of mechamorph armor which did return in omniverse sure might not be the same mechamorph armor but in this movie we knew that it was a thing so they didn’t just make it up in omniverse in malgax attacks

I'd definitely argue that Gwen was in the wrong in the beginning. Not only did she hinder Ben, thus needlessly dragging it out and putting Max into more danger, she also almost crushed Max under the falling pieces. Ben was 100% justified in choosing Upgrade. Yes, he did make the tank more dangerous, but as Upgrade, he also has full control over it, meaning he could've just driven it away safely. Also, her still going through with casting the dismantling spell was extremely reckless. Not only did it actually damage the Omnitrix, she couldn't have known how it would affect a Galvanic Mechamorph like Upgrade.
