Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Barbie Game Girl for the Game Boy developed by Imagineering, Inc. and published by Hi Tech Expressions.
For Barbie's Game Boy debut, she proposed a fair question-why not a Game Girl? A half-remake of the NES Barbie game and half-sequel, Barbie Game Girl is a platformer with a surprisingly strange story. Barbie needs a new outfit for a date, so she goes from shopping malls to malt shops and even oceans to put together a new ensemble. Is she hallucinating or is she really a mermaid? We may never know, as Barbie sure doesn't seem to be talking. The game features seven levels and matching minigames between them. There are also two boss battles, and needless to say, they're also pretty strange. Barbie Game Girl is a single-player platformer.

You can beat Mario Land and Kirby's Dream Land in a half an hour too. Early GB games were built on being quick so they can be beaten with the battery life in consideration. Not really a strong way to do this review.

I think the better question to ask is: Why don't people review more shit like this? Unfortunately, this is probably the only place you'll ever see a review for Barbie game girl. Also if you've ever seen classic game review before, you'd know that it is their never-ending mission to review every game ever conceived by human kind.
