Watching from Canada. Speaking of beneficial ownership, recently the CRA here introduced a requirement for certain bare trusts to file nil trust returns with a schedule disclosing who the beneficiaries (beneficial owner), trustee (legal owner) and settlor (who put the money in) are. Simply by having your name on on someone else's property that you don't beneficially own can trigger this filing requirement.
