International visitors ride a wave of 'China Travel'

In recent months, "China Travel" has become a buzzword as overseas visitors flock to China following the implementation of different visa-free policies by the Chinese government earlier this year. Be it unilateral or mutual visa exemption schemes, and up to 144-hour visa-free transit facility, these policies have paid off. In the first seven months this year, the number of international visitors increased by nearly 130 percent year on year to reach over 17 million. How does it translate in economic terms? What does it mean for China's global image? In this edition of The Hub, Wang Guan goes to Beijing Capital International Airport and talks to officers of the Beijing General Station of Immigration Inspection to learn more. Wang Guan also asks foreign visitors how they feel getting through immigration inspection and how they have benefited from the 144-hour visa-free transit policy.

China have the exotic mix of historical, modern and eclectic. And it is value for monies. I am in Milan now , my old 4 star hotel of 200 sq ft is usd 130. My Beijing 5 star hotel of 320 sq ft cost the same. No brainer.

​Well that means foreigners can live like a king. Food, transport, medical expenses, entertainment etc are way cheaper in China. Chinese foods are the best in the world, the infrastructure super modern, people very friendly and China is super safe.

It took me 30 seconds to find out that many African countries have a *BETTER* arrangement, including: Ghana: 30-day visa-free stay for Ghanaian citizens Rwanda: 30-day visa-free stay for Rwandan citizens Tanzania: 30-day visa-free stay for Tanzanian citizens etc. DON'T BE LAZY! Not what I saw at Beijing airport 4 days ago Many rejected 100 people in a queue at immigration that took 5 hours to clear It’s a joke We had a connection flight to Zhuhai which we missed We rebooked a later flight and it took 2 hours to check in We stood 90 minutes at passport control ( for an internal flight) You can not transit in China you must collect your luggage and start again The entire set up is farcical
