Faces Of Africa - DJ Focus: The Innovator

16 year old ​​Kelvin Doe aka DJ Focus, is an engineer from Freetown, Sierra Leone. He is known for teaching himself engineering at the age of 13 and building his own radio station where he plays music and broadcasts news under the name "DJ Focus". Kelvin uses discarded pieces of scrap to build transmitters, generators, and batteries.
As a result of his accomplishment, he received an invitation to the US and he became the youngest person ever to participate in the “Visiting Practitioner's Program” at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

He was stricken with a degenerative disease at a young age but his intelligence propelled him forwards and he gained scholarships and eventually became a medical doctor in the United States. His medical practice impacted the life of many patients. He also gave back to his village and the rest of his native country. I have seen firsthand the impact one, discounted life, can have. I have seen firsthand the joy that people who have, as you say, 'nothing,' possess. The community problems that you reference - have you seen someone rise above them firsthand? This is why eugenics is often mentioned in the same conversation as abortion.
