I'd love to see a time comparison of placing orders using this process and a well designed admission powerplan.

I think a time comparison would be based on the variety of patients you see. If you are typically seeing the putting in the same orders (think cataract surgery) then saved favourite power plan would be the way to go. If you see, a variety of patients, then this may be quicker.
