When you will have the time, you should put in the compost all what you took out from the stream. It’s completly organic.

You will not regret keeping the stream "free-flowing". Every minute you use to clean up the debris will pay off in spades.

Couldn't believe how many different pieces of paper you tore off under the stairs! Listening to the stream and the woodpecker...I coulda sat out there all day. Nice job, both inside and out.

One of those toilets with the sink built in on top of the cistern would save space. Japanese idea originally. Saw one in Edinburgh the other day.

Seeing you working inside the cupboard, shows already just how much space you can find under there.👍

That space under the stairs looks great for a small bathroom, and a beautiful woods you have behind you, with a woodpecker, no less.

Have you noticed a huge difference in the kitchen after you laid the insulation? I would think it's now the place to be, especially with the stove burning.👍

Amazing how much there is to do! You are very patient, just taking it one step at a time, impressive. The cleared space under the stairs seems like an ideal place for just a toilet and small sink.

Another beautiful video. More snow! Just when it looked as though the snow melt was well under way. Think the loo under the stairs is going to work beautifully. Don’t think any of us realised just how much room there was available! How lovely to be gifted a sink from your brother, a memory for much later when you are sitting around reminiscing with family and friends.❤

We had an old two story house and put in a toilet and sink under the stairs , was thankful for it!

Lovely shots of the quiet of winter forest - there's nothing like it. It looks like there will be enough space underneath the stairs for a small WC. So handy for a quick trip when you're working outside. You look quite content sitting in your nice warm kitchen, with the fire crackling in the stove. It took me back to my younger days, when we heated with wood. I doubt if our kitchen was as well insulated as yours, though. Thanks for sharing with us your journey in your characterful house! Have a good week, Marcus.

Marcus, the best solution for a bathroom is an extension on the side of the house opposite the entrance. The entrance to such an extension is probably best made from the kitchen next to the stove. The window in this wall will obviously be redundant. Firstly, it will not worsen, but even improve the appearance of the house, as it will give it more symmetry. But the bathroom as part of the living room - the worst option. A bathroom on the second floor is also not the best solution. It will require serious waterproofing of the room, which is difficult to do on the second floor. In the extreme case on the second floor you can make only a small toilet with a passage from the bedroom. In addition, a freestanding bathtub is a beautiful, but not the best solution. It is suitable only for rest and relaxation, but not for washing under the shower, which always causes splashes on the floor and walls and without a curtain in front and tile on the sides is not possible, and such washing is so necessary for dirty work on the site around the house. In addition, freestanding bathtub looks good only in rooms of 15-20 squares and more.

The debris you pulled out of stream would make good compost..you can get it before the snow melts. Youve done a good job with stairs and stream.

My husband's Norwegian ancestors came to the US and some were wood carvers, some masons. One of the wood carvers was relatively famous for carving kubbestols or wood chairs. Out of one solid piece of basswood. Halvor Landsverk. My husband is a hobby carver. What kind of wood to you use?
@evi57876 ай бұрын
Hey Marcus, short question, is the room with the wood storage above your kitchen? If yes, maybe you can build your bathroom there? So you have all the water and waste water pipes on one side of the house, which can save alot of pipes going through the house and also money. But it is only a suggestion.

Hey, yes that’s above the kitchen but I’m turning that into a study and I don’t wanna ruin the open space by turning some of it into a bathroom

Why does your snow look so much prettier when it falls than anything where I'm from? Maybe because you have an imperfectly idyll little property.

Marcus, watched your videos (20-24) on replacing floor insulation. Why did you decide to remove the stone supports under the joists (lags). Fixing the lags on metal corners is extremely unreliable and unacceptable, the load taking into account the thickness of the beams and floor boards is very high. Who advised you to do so - redo it before it's too late and put stone supports under the lags even in three or four places for each.
@MarcusStorm6 ай бұрын
We added 2 supports for the longer joists and 1 for the shorter.

@@MarcusStorm Then it's more or less normal. Just started watching your videos from 1 to 25 so far, really like it, very calming and puts you in an idyllic rural mood, so thank you very much!!!! I am amazed at your ability to do everything with your own hands - it's very rare now, so good luck with the restoration of the house.
