yes, consider adding an hour 'count' of all the time we are not seeing for one or 2 videos. certainly having most of the holes done is a real time saver. Zenith seems to be leading the way in this area. I want a Kolb.

Enjoyed every episodes! Very interested in your setup for the GoPro mount. Can you provide some details in the next episode? Such as the size of thread, distance between the 2 thread hole. I could not figure out what mounting accessory that you are going to use to mount a GoPro between the 2 nutplates. Please! Thank you.

It looks like the plans and instructions are better than the Cruzer. is that right or just different looking?

In one of your planning videos, you mentioned you will be putting in auto-pilot for longer camping trips. I assume servos will be installed when you are at the stage for installing control cables and such, but is there anything to be aware of at this point of assembly if one is planning for auto-pilot? PS: Your Blue Angel was the final straw for me and I wrote a check for a Cruzer airframe last week - my first build.

Awesome Lynn-congrats on the Cruzer! To answer your question-no. The servos will connect to the control tubes located in the fuselage so there is nothing autopilot related mounted in the tail.

Good to see primer in use. Do you plan to use jointing compound? I feel most uneasy about your 'file' deburring technique, - surely that removes more alclad than is desirable? I am enjoying you build videos, please keep it up. Thank you. Pete

Is there a reason to start the kit build with the tail sections?
@KitplaneEnthusiast
@KitplaneEnthusiast 4 жыл бұрын
Really you can build any part you want first. But usually people start with the smaller pieces because they are easier to manage, and they are smaller and cheaper to replace if you screw something up while leaning new skills. For me, Once I get to the fuselage, I feel like I'm on the home stretch. It would sort of suck to build the fuselage, start installing engines and panels, and then have to build wings, tail pieces, flaperons, slats, etc...

One question that has been on my mind for quite some time watching home build videos is when a person chooses to prime the airplane wouldn’t that create a gap that would be susceptible to motion and thereby wearing away creating separation between the parts. Should you assemble the parts then primed the piece as a whole? That would cover the seams.
@andrewmattox1233
@andrewmattox1233 4 жыл бұрын
The amount of force, and the surface area involved, I think the primer would be adequately "squished" to prevent any sort of motion. *The pull rivets are applying enough force to rip off the excess aluminum Not sure what the elasticity of aluminum is right off, but the rivet is under tension. Using the primer as a "sealant" also seems reasonable.

Nice work as always. Question: what do you do to remember which side is up on those end ribs, after the priming obliterates the sharpie markings? Thanks.
@KitplaneEnthusiast
@KitplaneEnthusiast 4 жыл бұрын
The outside of the ribs were not primed since they will get primed during paint. Even if you did prime the outside, once you are familiar with them you can see the difference and would know which way is up.

You would benefit from a set of transfer punches. I avoid drilling through an already established hole, especially in soft metals, as much as possible. Using a transfer punch is a good way to put a dimple in centered where you want to drill. You can then avoid the potential of making your existing hole over-sized. This is really important when the existing hole you may enlarge will be on the head end of the rivet. If the hole ends up over-sized, the rivet may allow some later movement to exist.
@KitplaneEnthusiast
@KitplaneEnthusiast 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can explain here how well a transfer push would work when the tip of the punch is about 5 times taller than the aluminum with the original hole??
@AnonyMous-jf4lc
@AnonyMous-jf4lc 4 жыл бұрын
@@KitplaneEnthusiast you can use a strap duplicator for thin metal, or, where you do need to hit it hard, make a guide by drilling a piece of thicker stock. Align, clamp, punch.

After rereading my comment, I would like to apologize for the way I composed it. I was focused more on the potential enlargement of the hole than focusing on the fact that I should probably disengage machinist level tolerance A.D.D.

A lot of kit builders do warn against neglecting to organize parts before the build, precisely for this reason: losing time looking for stuff. I think he's doing supremely well in this regard, compared to some others.

Actually the parts are fairly well organized in the boxes. One box had most of the wing parts and the other box has most of the fuselage parts. If you would lay out all 2,000 parts in an easy to find way, please post pics so I can see how you do it!
