translation notes:
*"the sound of silent snowfall"
shinshin (しんしん) is a japanese onomatopoeia for the silent sounds of snow falling
in the translation i simply put "the sound of silent snowfall" since english doesn't have a word for しんしん.
*"the promised place is filled with blossoming flowers"
sakari (盛り) can have various meanings including...
the peak of something (e.g. cherry blossom season)
the height of a season (e.g. summer)
the prime of one's life
a helping or serving (e.g. of food)
i ended using "blossoming flowers" to represent the peak of cherry blossom season as well as "filled with" to show the serving definition. there is obviously a lot lost in translation here, but it is very hard to include all four meanings in a translation.
*"spring passes away"
haru ha yuku (春は逝く), this is literally the title of the song.
"逝く" can be translated as simply going by, but it also holds the meaning of something dying. which is why i chose to say spring was "passing away", this way it can be interpreted in both meanings.
*"for not forgiving me, thank you"
watashi o yurusanaide ite kureru (私を許さないでいてくれる)
i probably took the longest time translating this verse due to "いてくれる".
"くれる" is something of a polite request
"いて" on the other hand, does not have much meaning on its own.
when you attach "いて" with other sentences it usually means "stay"
"私を許さないで" means "do not forgive me", therefore, when combined with "いてくれる," it will become something like "thanks for still not forgiving me".
as a whole, the sentence sounds a bit odd in english so i simple used "for not forgiving me, thank you" since i wasn't sure how to really include the "stay" element of "いて" into the sentence.
ps. i'm still half confused as to how "いて" becomes "stay" in most contexts, if anyone knows how this works please tell me?
