说得对，我是柬埔寨的第三代潮州人，我家人還堅持跟孩子們說潮語，我的部分親友的小孩已經開始不說潮語！我想假如早在六十、七十、八十年代有潮語歌曲的話，那就不得了，當時的柬、泰、寮、越南南部等和東南亞地區幾乎都是潮州人的世界，可惜當時沒有潮語歌曲⋯！現在潮語隨著時光流逝，漸漸的，一代代的海外子弟不會說潮語⋯給本地同化也！可是我們現在大家來講和支持潮語歌曲也不遲，鄉親們加油💪🦾💪🤝🤝🤝

@@weststarautosdnbhd7210 I will do it for this song tomorrow. It is now nearly 1:30 am in London and I ought to go to bed. I never know if people actually read what I write. I just want all of us to be fluent in Teochew because our language is so beautiful. You know that we do not have characters for some words. For example, 中間 middle we say as ling3dang1 and we do not have the ling3 character. I have seen people use this 零 character and write ling'dang as 零中 If you are SDN BHD - then you must be in Malaysia. I hope you know that I am not Chinese educated. I wanted to improve my Teochew and I have found that I needed to learn Chinese but I learn Chinese only to improve my Teochew. I do not know if you know what I mean. I therefore have no interest in explaining Teochew in Mandarin for others. I just realise there are many English speaking Teochew nang around the world and I just want to help them to improve their mother tongue and mother tongue is said as 母語 bho2ghe2 in Teochew. BTW I am not a man. My name in Teochew is Teo Juyee.

@@zhangruyi3153 Lao Si and Sister Zhang Ruyi (Teo Juyee) , first and foremost please accept my heartfelt apology for not reverting much much earlier to your fast response ( in translating this beautiful TEOCHEW song) to my request to you on 9th January 2022. I’ve been very preoccupied with my work virtually 24/7( l‘m a car salesman ) although this isn’t an excuse. My TEOCHEW name is Chia Miah Song. My parents call me Miah Song although my siblings, friends and customers call me simply by my Christian name, Mike. My late father was TEOCHEW while my Mum who is still alive is HOKKIEN. I would speak with my father in TEOCHEW & with my Mum in HOKKIEN. I’m very thankful that both my parents taught me these two beautiful languages even though they sent me to an English medium school. Hence, like you l’m not Chinese( Mandarin) educated. Also, l’ve never considered myself a banana because although l’m privileged to have received an English education, l’ve considered myself a TEOCHEW and HOKKIEN nang. My main downside is that l can’t read and write in Mandarin, TEOCHEW and HOKKIEN. My parents reminded me that there were only TEOCHEW, HOKKIEN, Cantonese, Hainanese & Hakka people but there were no such people called the Mandarin ( Pu Tong Hua) people. That’s why as for TEOCHEW, l’ve requested Lao Si Quek Khim Chua and your goodself to translate those beautiful TEOCHEW songs into pinyin and English. Like you Lao Si Teo Juyee, l want to learn Chinese so that l can improve my TEOCHEW. I’ve a long way to improve my TEOCHEW. I’m very grateful that my late father left me this beautiful legacy of TEOCHEW. Now l want to learn to improve it and hopefully share with English educated GAGINANG. @@weststarautosdnbhd7210 Dear Mike I hope you do not mind me calling you Mike. You have asked how you can improve your Teochew. As you are not Chinese educated and you are too busy to learn to read and write in Chinese, I suggest that you learn through listening and speaking. In language learning there are two parts. One is writing and reading. And the other is listening and speaking. So, spend time listening to Teochew videos from our ancestral homeland and make notes of any new words you learn. You can record them in Romanised Teochew and English. There are lots of short videos which are less than 10 minutes long. Short 5 minutes videos are very good because you will not be tired after listening to the videos. You may find Teochew PinYin a bit difficult at first but eventually you will get the hang of it. Like Mandarin PinYin, Teochew PinYin is also standardised. We call PinYin in Teochew as PêngIm. If you like singing, then choose Teochew songs and sing the songs and you will find that you will eventually learn more Teochew words. If there is any consolation, I am English educated and I am learning Teochew and my Teochew is fluent enough to be able to understand Teochew videos from our ancestral homeland. We were given the basic when we were children and our brain has stored the sounds and it is very easy for us to learn the language which other non-Teochew people will find it extremely difficult. For example, we will automatically do tone sandhi without being told to do because our parents have taught us this when we were little. Not being able to write and read Chinese will not be a disadvantage. If you think about it. Before 1950, only less than 30 percent of Chinese can read and write Chinese. Many of our ancestors learn Chinese perfectly without knowing how to read and write Chinese. Thank you for sharing your history and may I wish you a happy Chinese New Year. It is rim6ing5 houn2ni5 壬寅虎年 and it occurs once in every sixty years. Rim sounds like Jim and ing sounds like ink in English. Houn you know it is tiger like lao'houn and ni means year. Sing Zian Ru'I 新正如意 - which roughly means may all your wishes come true this year. The day before Chinese New Year Eve 2022 BTW I listen to Hokkien songs from Taiwan. I also use Taiwan Hokkien dictionary to help me with Teochew because we have many similar words. I cannot speak Hokkien but I like listening to Hokkien in particular Penang Hokkien.
