What a tremendous video series! Pichon Baron is one of our favorite producers, and we have several vintages currently. It will be a long ten years waiting to open them. Keep up the great content. This channel should be wildly popular; subscribed.

Thanks for your nice comment! Pichon Baron is also one of our favorite wineries and I call them a super 2nd growth. They can easily compete with the first growths. If you like these videos you should check out our website where we have exclusive content like this. You will need to become a member in order to watch the videos but this is totally for free. www.thewinearchive.com Cheers!

Yo mention "buying a primeur" two times (second time when you are tasting 2016) "you need to buy it on primeur". what does that mean?
@itsmederek12 жыл бұрын
en primeur, it means before release

Generally for Bordeaux wines, buying a primeur is ordering in advance from a reputable wholesaler doing business with the Chateau. For example, people would order the 2020 vintage during 2021 and would expect delivery in 2023 because the vintage needs to be aged a certain amount of time in barrique before bottling.

Yes indeed. So it's tradition in Bordeaux that they present their new vintage to the world when it has some ageing in barrel and when the final blend is done. Then the critics can right about them and give scores. Then you can order the wines from the chateau's that you think you would like to have and after 2 years they will be released.

@NBA--And usually less expensive, than on release. EXAMPLE: 2019 Clinet(Pomerol), $75 on 1st en primeur. Now released at $130-140. You can buy 2022 Bordeaux en premeur now(June 2023). Very warm vintage, drinkable earlier(8-12 years, rather than 12-15 years, with PROPER storage). To be released in 2025. Usually 3 bottles is minimum. There is not much reason to buy wines that are less than $35-50(the minimum price to justify paying upfront, and with proper selection, the starting point for excellent quality Bordeaux). A $22 en Primeur can be bought on release for $25. Why bother.
