I expect it's Chinese music, but it sounds like western. What happen?

first, maybe regarding to the material, as u know erhu made by snake skin, every snake skin have differ thickness, size of scales etc will effect the sound, so that every erhu had its own sound. but i think more possible is the title of song is for erhu, but it was using a lot of violin technique and western style composition.
