Ever heard a Vocaloid sing German before? Here you go. READ FOR MORE ↓↓↓
This very interesting song comes from the producer named Regulus, who has been working very hard recently to try and become more noticed by worldwide Vocaloid listeners. His efforts also involved composing music in other languages, with this song as an example. I think it's time he was rewarded for his efforts.
That being said, Regulus would love to talk with people that enjoy his music (he speaks English!). So feel free to leave a message for him in the comments below, or send him messages on his twitter at @regulusTM. Tell him what you think! Be sure to check out his other works from the VocaDB link below.
An mp3 for the song and instrumental is provided by Regulus on Piapro, linked below. Thanks again to Regulus for allowing me to introduce his works! As a bit of trivia, the title means "Black Rain", and has had several interesting uses throughout history, with this song taking inspiration from WWII events. The vocals used are Miku Dark Append and V3 English.

And now I write down my lyrics in English at the reference level. ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ There is only darkness and no light (ただ光も無い闇の中で) I'm getting wet with rain and even if my eyes can't see a daybreak (雨に濡れる私の瞳が黎明さえ視えないなら) Give me a fragment of hope (一欠片の希望を) It's still black rain (まだ黒い雨が降る) and just fills black (ただ黒く塗りつぶす) Black rain (Schwarzer Regen) Such a beautiful world (So eine schöne Welt) Black rain (Schwarzer Regen) Such a beautiful world (So eine schöne Welt) What is this world? (Was ist diese Welt?) Black rain (Schwarzer Regen) If my heart is still alive, (まだこの心が残るのなら) please give me the end (その優しい温もりの中で) in your kind warmth (終末だけ迎えさせて) I wanna vanish remain ignorant (意味も知らず朽ちるの) It's still black rain (まだ黒い雨が降る) and just fills black (ただ黒く塗りつぶす) Black rain (Schwarzer Regen) Such a beautiful world (So eine schöne Welt) Black rain (Schwarzer Regen) Such a beautiful world (So eine schöne Welt) What is this world? Some of you still seem to be wondering how Miku's German pronounciation was created. SInce it has not been debunked yet, I decided to share this knowledge (after so long...). Back when Regulus released this song, I contacted him on Twitter in Japanese and praised him for how accurate Miku's German pronounciation was. It turned out that he didn't only use Dark Append, but also V3 English. Anyone with little German and Japanese knowledge will recognize that not all German letters are found in Japanese. Those letters' pronounciation was created using V3 English. Let me give a few examples: So eine schöne Welt. ► "So": It's a word that starts with s, so it is pronounced as z like zebra. Japanese doesn't have a z, only a dz /tz sound that is stronger than a simple z. ► "schöne": That ö wasn't magically created using distortions of Miku's Dark Append. ► "Welt": That's a very clear W (w like vase) that Miku pronounciates. The word contains an L, which Japanese doesn't have. And the way Welt is pronounciated is also clear, and not as [Ueruto]. ► "Regen": Notice how the first E is different than the second one? Again, V3 English. Then the "gen" is created with Dark Append. So basically, what I'm trying to say is, that the German pronounciation is a mesh-up using Miku's Japanese and English voice banks. Hope this clears some confusion =)

Yep.
@warxdrum

I also think he uses an "S" sound and then a "CH" to create the German "SCH" and the "Ö" sounds a little bit like a German "E".
@Satinather
@Satinather 7 жыл бұрын
+warxdrum That's not how it works. "S" + "CH" would sound completely weird for germans. :) Miku doesn't even have "CH" in one of their voicebanks. The composer used the normal japanese (or english) "sh". It's the same sound. C:

Im verry impressed at how acurately the miku voicebank can pronounce german words. I mean you hear the thick thick accent, but for a voicebank that was create to speak japanese, this is incredibly impressive.

I like this octave myself. I have used her voice bank several times and I found it’s easier to tune her voice in this octave. Also I found that most people don’t know how to tune her higher notes so it sounds, I don’t want to say bad but pitchy. I did one cover in her higher range and I liked it but it was a pain to tune. the higher the range the more you have to pay attention to the pitch.

Does "schwarzer regen" refer to the "black rain" that fell after the Hiroshima bombing in 1945? I'm just wondering since the description mentions that this song was inspired by WWII. It's a beautiful song and I've been playing it over and over since I first found it!

It's incredible how she is able to sing in German so damn well. I always get excited when pieces of media I love have elements from my native language, like the Rosewalds in Tokyo Ghoul or Wolfsschlucht in Black Butler, but to see it in a Vocaloid song is something new entirely (aside from the Germanoid project). Besides, the song is really nice on its own.

Yess, a producer that speaks English (so I don't have to try out my awkward fragmented Japanese)! German and Japanese are my favorite languages, English aside. Though now I am only studying Japanese, I think you did a wonderful job of making her sing in German. It's a difficult thing to do with the limitations of her voicebank, and I really like that you worked with those shortcomings instead of trying to work against them. And paired with that interesting tuning, close to a hum or a growl, the result is a beautiful, haunting song with a unique sound that never feels out of place. Thank you for this piece.

Thank you for giving me comments. Originally I wanted to show our culture(Vocaloid) to foreigners. And I realized that my song "Tear me down" was listened by some Americans because it was written by all English.I wonder that there are only a few languages that Vocaloids can sing nevertheless there are so many fans in the world. And almost Vocaloid Producers don't try to use languages which Vocaloids don't have. However I hope that as many as possible people can enjoy Vocaloid in their language. So I tried to use German because I'm just learning it. That's the story of this song.
@MoroFullmetal
@MoroFullmetal 9 жыл бұрын
regulus I think that because music is a sort of powerful, universal language on its own, it has the power to reach people regardless of the language they speak. And because Vocaloid itself is so unique and people who love it are scattered all over the world, those people all over the world with this very specific interest are drawn towards each other. Language, then, becomes less of a barrier than a medium through which people can relate, experience, share their love of music and explore new things, including foreign languages and cultures. I think that this may be why so many people love Vocaloid. But there are some people out there that shy away from unfamiliar concepts, and I believe you are finding a way to breach those walls people have set up around themselves by sharing, through music and their own language, something as strange and bewildering as Vocaloid. I am so glad you are learning German, and thank you for sharing your story! がんばってください!

regulus I don't speak either of those languages, but that song has a good sound to it. Tuning her lower like that makes her sound older and more relaxed. I wonder if english is possible without losing that distinctive Hatsune Miku Append sound ...?

The song has a sad meaning to it. She's mourning over all the people who are dying in the gas chambers, Hence "Schwarzer regen" or "Black rain" which means the ashes from the gas chambers. I'm part German myself because my mom's maiden name is Birnbaum, which means Pear tree in German. I'm mixed with Asian but I don't know which one. because we haven't looked that far yet, on ancestory.com. hope this makes you have a better understanding of the song.

Wow. I'm listening to vocaloid since maybe two years and I've been following this channel since...don't know.. a year or something? But i never thought i would hear Miku sing in my native language. Even more surprising is that there seems to be quite a lot of germans/german speaking ppl who are following this channel. Funny how small the world sometimes is...

This is fascinating.. the difference in voice between the German and Japanese is interesting, but works together really nicely. Overall I really like it. I think the illustration goes with it very well as well ;)
