I’m studying to enter the Lemmensinstituut (Belgium) this summer. I’m 49, took 20 years off. My tutor is Tim Bogaert. Cedric Delvaux offered a lesson (which ended up in 2.5h! - the honor 🙌🏻🙌🏻) and I’ll be playing Händel (sonate 1) and Suite Hellenique (chosen by Cedric). I’m so humbled and honored and it’s my second chance at living my life after surviving breastcancer 🙏🏻. It’s never too late. Make your daily schedule, enjoy the process because you’ll never the level you have in your mind 😀

Dear Chad (and Ryan), thank you so much for the 23:28 encouragement, you just gave me a huge boost. Love this video and all of the other Chads videos as well. Im already planning to share this knowledge once I get better myself, because the fact that you share about your skill and even work on spreading the knowledge of how to acquire it, is amazing.... Practicing saxophone daily for last year and a half made me realize, what does it really take to master anything in life and most importantly, that nothing special comes easy. You have to work to achieve, but the satisfaction of taking another step further is priceless and I believe that sharing and teaching this principle to the other people is probably even better.... Many thanks, huge fan of yours, keep it up Chad!!! :)

Obviously I am super late on your comment here, I hope you're study has gone well. One thing I will say as a sax player of over 25 years myself, and someone who studied privately and through universities. Classical is super important if you want to succeed in Jazz studies. I hated playing classical, but now I understand how that laid the foundation for my jazz studies.

I'm not sure if you are reading this. However, this is a great video. I'm "Joe", I started as a clarinet player in high school and played a lot, for the most Dixieland and swing jazz. After a 30 years break, I started again some years ago. Then i also bought myself a tenor saxophone. I'm paying a little here and there, but I'm a terrible music reader, I always rely on my ear. I'm happy with my tone, but technically i'm not that good. I'm lucky as I'm able to play with a professional piano player and bass player. So how to proceed?
