I would make a box in the center console behind the seats for everything you always have with you, like food or the victory pie. And then do a couple of drink holders on top back against the wall, better to have the water bottles back there than have them rolling around on the floor... Cheers from Northern Sweden!

I'd put the air-horns on the cab roof facing forward, along with some orange marker lights. The wrecker is deserving of some loud-as horns and up high they'll be heard for sure. You could run an air-line up through the cab and just have a quick-couple fitting so the cab can still be lifted off.

@martylawson1638 Жыл бұрын
You have to be at least that organized on a complex project like this. You'll just spend forever chasing errors otherwise. Looks like Chad 'n crew even had each wire printed with the function in addition to color-coding. I've only seen that before in aircraft work. It will really pay dividends when maintaining the wrecker.

@@martylawson1638 You buy a fuse panel with harness that is marked. They then customize it to add circuits. Still a huge undertaking. BTDT but at lesser expertise. You can pretty much buy anything yo need now. When I was doing it, salavaged connectors from other cars.

What you call connectors, is what we called cannon plugs in the Air Force. Rewiring an aircraft was a time consuming job. Every wire was white, but each wire had a number inked on it about every foot, to tell them apart. We marked each wire as it was being built.

Yall do amazing work I love watching you work especially on Matt's rig. A tip for that helicoil is once it's fully inserted remove the tool and turn it 1/4 turn and out it back in and smack it with your hand, That will usually break the tang off then you can blow it out with air or just let it fall out. That works about 87% of the time for me the other 13% of the time i have to snap it off with a skinny pair of needle nose plyers.

How I remember my days in engineering and laying out wire harnesses. Did one job and when it went to production, some assembler thought they had a better idea. Then after 20 units were built and failed, I was called out to solve the issue. Their better idea was something I had tried but found it caused interference in the control wires. Why not do similar for the centre console of the wrecker for perhaps drinks and snacks spare light bulbs etc etc. I had easy clean seat cushions made they like bench seats.
