for anti, u said its something to talk about for semester 2 but can u explain it why you attacked the top bond rather than the bottom, is there a preference when there are the same amount of subs?

Why would the double bond in cyclohexene do a nucleophilic attach on Oxygen isn’t oxygen partially negative?

I've been told cyclohexanes do not follow the interpretations of 2d drawing so I notice a contradiction from what I learned, in the product of the syn addition. I genuinely am curious can I continue to rely on the 3d model of cyclohexane to tell me whether the product in the syn addition would be meso? I was thinking since the OH's are on adjacent carbons in the 3d conformation there does not seem to be a plane of symmetry unless I'm interpreting it wrong.

hi at 5.55 should the wedge bond between c and o where the h2o is attacking be removed
