In the words of Project Binky - "make the noise"! Nice new toy Charlie and it's good that it showed up the error in the helix before you got any further on. And possibly consigned what turned out to be perfectly good locos to the scrap heap. It has probably paid for itself already in that regard. Having seen the amount of engineering you've put into this helix I now realise mine was doomed to failure from the start, but we live and learn! Cheers

I don't know what is says about me! But one of the most absorbing videos on KZbin I have watched!! A genuine sense of anticipation at seeing it working, and total admiration at your skills from the point of view of design execution and carpentry. One thing, have you given thought as to making the front side of the board wide enough for the necessary scenery as the track curves out the top of the helix, as it would seem to me, that quite a bit of woodworking will need to be done to create at least the frame for the 'nearside' of the cutting as the track disappears into the tunnel. If you follow what I'm saying that is. However given the enormous challenge you have given yourself when you embarked on this new plan for your layout, this issue will I'm sure not present any significant issues. When your wife said 'that looks dangerous' I wonder if she is referring to the dangerous enormity of the project your undertaking! 😉

What a great comment Keith. The trackbed for the track as it comes off the Helix is by no means the finished item. I can easily make it wider or more narrow to suit the landscape that I will build. I do hope this helps, regards Charlie

Glad that you were able to find the problem with the % raises that were causing the performance issues. Looking forward to seeing what happens next on the layout.

Thank you Charlie, I did enjoy your video (as always). Just a little tip about using multiple track boards joined together. It is better to join them, - not where they attach to the bench work, but braced underneath between the joists. This way you avoid any kinks in the track where the boards join. Thanks again for all the work you put in to take us on your journey of creating Chadwick.

A great update Charlie. When I was watching your previous video on getting stock up, something did seem off, but I didn't mention it only because i couldn't figure out quite what was making me think that. The moment you laid the digital level on it it was almost a "ah!" Moment. Glad you figured it out though and things seem to be working well now.

Yes it was a lightbulb moment for me too. Regards Charlie
