Thanks for bringing us so much joy throughout the year, Charlie. Video production is so much more behind the scenes than we get to see here and I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we really appreciate all the effort you put in. Have a great Christmas and a very well-earned break.

That is some beautiful running footage. I love the way you have created a sense of distance by using visual barriers between scenes. Your high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail is noteworthy. As always, your photography really places us in the scene. Merry Christmas!

The trains running scenes were great. Some of the best model railroad videos I’ve seen since looking at Allen Keller’s great stuff 15 or 20 years ago. The background music is a nice touch, if a bit ominous sounding. Really love and appreciate your channel, it’s always interesting!

Merry Christmas, Charlie! You're the best. As an American modeler, I'm always amused by the small size of British freight wagons (see, I'm learning!). But those tank wagons are beautiful, notwithstanding the delivered couplers. Your ability to cope with challenges always impresses me.

I was just going to say that it's so nice that you've worked to get such a great railway that you can get the trains running so well, and then I saw the outtakes, but that seems like it's more down to coordination and not how you've already done setting up the stuff. Wonderful! Merry Christmas to you too. Wish I was around there to see the club's stuff!

Hi Charlie that was a great video once again. I must say you have done great job through out this year given us all a insight to model railway build, given us lots tips and informing us what's out there for the for the railway modeller you are inspiration to us all showing some of us how its done and how it can be done. I don't care long some one has been doing railway modelling there is all ways something new that we discover from guys like you. I have been a railway modeller for yonks and I'm still picking up new way how to do it, and again watching you on KZbin gets me and I dare say a lot of others getting stuck in to our layouts. Thank you Charlie a MERRY Christmas and a happy and healthy new year to you and your family see you next year.

Another cracking video Charlie. Once again I've been educated on the different wagon coupling considerations and thanks for sharing the bloopers, we all have the odd (or even) mishap. I wish you and yours a very happy Christmas and a prosperous new year. If/when I get around to building a layout that's likely to be just a fraction of yours I'll be taking into account your guidance. I'm sure that when I get around to a build it will evolve a lot along the way to a point where there is always something that needs a tweak to keep my interest.

I've got three locos on my layout, from Rainbow Railways, 47004, 47583, 47599. I bought 47004 at their stall, at Model Rail Scotland 2024, and went to Scoonie Hobbies, my local model shop, to get a decoder. Try as we might, we couldn't get the loco to run on their test track. Taken the next Saturday to Rainbow railways, who rang Scoonie, to get full details on the problem, and the following Saturday, 47004 had a new decoder, and the electronic problem was also sorted out.

Excellent video, as usual Charlie, this is why you’re the Number One for me, as so many other UTubers don’t pay attention when adding music to their videos! Im a fan of Marklin's close couplings because i collect european modelds as well as British models and i want the option of being able to link up both models if necessary. My American models/models that prototypically have knuckle couplers have kadee scale couplers.

Well done, as are all your videos. Obviously you are a professional videographer and modeller, with a passion for both. Your 241 videos (to date) have been the primary source for me to go from an empty room to four mainlines, a big fiddle yard, an eight-coach long four line station with a passing loop, a steam servicing yard, a helix, and full DCC operation, in eighteen months! (Don't get too impressed, only the station has rudimentary platforms - the rest is raw baseboards and trackage.) You are my primary source. The eye-level shots with the extreme depth of field really put me trackside! Outstanding! Having said that, I wish you and yours a Happy Christmas and a very fruitful New Year. Carry on!

Hey Charlie, superb video as always. I love your layout and enthusiasm. I'm currently building a OO gauge layout, but it won't be anywhere near as good as yours. I'm going traditional DC purely due to the amount of DC stock I have. No fault of yours, but what really annoys me is hearing the DCC control knob clicks in videos. You don't get these clicks on DC, so why do DCC controllers do it. Takes a bit of the realism away for me. Keep up the good work. Dave

Nice to see trains running... I have a question, when the 37 came down onto the mainline, after the HST passed the block, the signal turned directly from red to green; the same thing happened when the DMU left the branch with the 56 waiting - I would have thought that the lights would go from red to orange since the following block is occupied (although, on reflection, with track switching the successive blocks possibly are free...). Merry Christmas and all best for the new year for you and Margaret.

Many thanks Charlie for another year of informative and entertaining videos, it's always a "drop everything" on Friday afternoon when a new one comes out! Question - Once your layout is "finished" (in quotes, they're never finished, we all know that!) will you be working it in a similar way to McKinley? i.e. some automated trains doing their thing, whilst you operate the branch station, or the freight yard for example? I seem to recall some time ago you were getting your DMU to run autonomously from the branch station to the main station, but I can't recall if that's still a feature, or not. Wishing you all the best for Christmas, and looking forward to another year of (literally) award-winning videos!
