Colby was about to get cut before he found his heel schtick and while it’s gotten him some name recognition it isn’t translating to PPV buys and now it’s costing him relationships. IMO, best thing for him would be to go to another promotion where he can drop the heel schtick and just dominate in the cage, earn their title, and then come back to UFC with a bigger fan base that will actually buy his fights. If he continues the heel schtick in the UFC and it doesn’t start drawing more buys, he’s not going to see the kind of money he thinks he deserves and we’re not going to see him win a title, which would suck because the dude is an awesome fighter.

I saw a recent interview with Masvidal and apparently his whole deal with Colby, is that Colby stuffed the coach and did not pay him what was owed. Masvidal is apparently close with their coach and that is what he says got him upset with Colby. To me, I have no idea, if that scenario is true, as to why the coach would have made private financial business between him and Colby, public knowledge to Jorge. I always thought it'd be neat if fighters set up their own fights to be broadcast from gyms. They could cut out the UFC and keep most of the money for themselves. I'd watch it!

@Jesu Estrada Good point about the promotion building the stars. The most popular fighters already do most of their own promotion themselves, so if you could get a handful of guys from prominent gyms to start talking themselves up maybe it could work. I don't know, there must be good reasons this has never been done before. It's the route I would try to go if I were an MMA fighter though.

this started because Masvidal's coach was in Colby's corner when he fought RDA, and Colby never paid the coach for cornering him, and it really pissed Jorge off. he told Colby that he better pay his coach or things would get nasty, and Colby never did. the coach got in between them one day and told Jorge to let it go, but Jorge was pissed. this was over a year ago. Jorge said he just wasnt cool with him anymore because of this, but now Colby has been talkin sh*t and making up lies, saying that its because Jorge is "jealous" of his success. its cause he screwed his coach over. thats it.

Chael, you're a smart guy so it surprises me that you dont see how this happened. Colby was doing his 'work' and leaving most of his "friends" out of it...then Colby got annoyed that Jorge got offered the fight with Usman after he asked for more money, so Colby started talking shit about Jorge hoping that would get hi more attention(and he picked against Dustin, said he couldn't stuff a nose bleed). Colby is stepping on his "friend's" necks to try and get more money/attention and those "friends" are pissed about it (they also happen to be two people that believe in the philosophy 'talk shit, get hit'). I know you're super loyal to Colby, but its ok for friends to call friends out when the do something fucked up, and how hes behaving towards people who are close to him is fucked up...so it would be fine if you called him out on it (instead of pretending that you dont know where any of this hostility is coming from).
