Because of your video I am going to add to my fence I already have. Someone is giving me all the chain link and posts for free! I am so lucky! Thank you so much because I knew it could be done but needed your push and added idea.

Thanks, I was lucky to find used fence and posts without concrete on them and had I known this job was so rare I would have done a better video. 1.5 years later and the fence is as sturdy as when I installed it.

Cool man, I'm hitting menards tomorrow. Was planning on doing this because am just connecting my house and garage to a preexisting fence in 4 areas and don't want to mess with concrete.
@bradleywolfe11883 жыл бұрын
Smart man just did the same on mine it’s a waste of time to concrete every post for a backyard fence corner post maybe

How did you install the anchors to the post?
@rickcollins71574 жыл бұрын
the anchor slides over the post after it is driven into the ground. Then I used a sledge to drive the anchor in flush to the ground.

Just what I've been looking for - thanks! I'm in Oregon, please can you tell me what the part is called and maybe a product code? Perhaps I can contact Menards there in Ohio to get these. Thanks.

Thanks for the video Rick, yours is the only one I could find that feature this type. I was thinking about using a combination of these and OZ post anchors because of the cost savings. I was wondering what state you live in and how these performed after one winter?
@ricksrandomrepairsandrevie96114 жыл бұрын
Steve Fud I live in Ohio, so lots of freezing and thawing and the fence is as straight and tight as when I installed it last July. I think a lot has to do with the clay soil around my property. I will try to get another video of it.

Menards does not show the anchors you show in video with their fencing. What is it listed as in Menards?

It's been a long time are you still looking? The part number at Menards is 171-5336 for the 1 5/8 and 171-5340 for the 2 3/8

What size was the post
@ricksrandomrepairsandrevie96112 жыл бұрын
I don't know the exact size as tge fence was used. Two sizes were used to install, the typical "line" post and the larger "corner" posts. You can get both sizes of sleaves/anchors for each size post.
@ricksrandomrepairsandrevie96112 жыл бұрын
According to Menards posts would be 1 5/8 for the "line" posts and 2 3/8 for the Terminal/corner posts

What is your soil like? Are they easy to drive in?
@ricksrandomrepairsandrevie96115 жыл бұрын
Mostly clay and I used the sledgehammer shown in the video

Found it on Menards website. Now, please how far did you drive posts into ground before adding anchor, and did you use a post driver?
@ricksrandomrepairsandrevie9611 Жыл бұрын
I put my posts in about 2 ft. Using a post driver did cause the top of the post to smash in somewhat. I took my grinder and smoothed them out to put the caps on that hold the top rail. They were 6 ft posts holding 48” fence. I recently moved and put up another fence with the same anchors and placed my posts every 10’ and the fence is straight 10 months later.

Thanks for watching I watched other videos on how to install this fence and filmed my own experience to show that you don’t need concrete. I have since moved and put up another fence without concrete with amazing results

Hope never rains in your yard or having strong wind, and please do not even think about privacy slats. Good luck.
@ricksrandomrepairsandrevie96112 жыл бұрын
Don’t need privacy slats out in the country as I am bordered by farmland. Heavy rains and high winds and the fence is straight and solid. The post sleeves really anchor the posts.

I'mm with Jerry below You Never Showed how you ACtually Installed the them. Hello???
@ricksrandomrepairsandrevie96114 жыл бұрын
I probably should have gotten it on video. Once the posts were driven into the ground with my post driver, the anchors slide over the post and I took a sedge hammer and hit the wings of the anchor (alternating sides) till the anchor was in the ground. If I ever need to add an anchor to the post with my gate I'll be sure to get it on video. Thanks for watching.

@@ricksrandomrepairsandrevie9611 What? I see screw holes in those anchors. How did you fasten them to the post if the post was already driven in?
@ricksrandomrepairsandrevie96113 жыл бұрын
@@cristian240sx the anchors are an exact fit. They do not attach to the post and provide great support to any post. Going on 2 years with freezing and thawing in Ohio winters and the fence hasn’t moved.
