I’m a lifelong Kentuckian and never heard about this before. What a wonderful story of what people can accomplish when they look at their circumstances as a challenge. I must admit, I’m more the type to sit around feeling sorry for myself.

Me too. Born and raised in Kentucky. Lived here all my life except for around 4 years in Columbus Ohio. I'm in Laurel County. I've never heard of this either. I'm thinking of getting an Atlas of Kentucky. It shows hidden roads and other spots that are not on a regular map. Yes I know this was several years ago lol IDK why somebody always has to make an issue out of that, so I always point it out that yes I know

I've lived in Pineville Kentucky for 42 years and I've been on chain rock many times and it's beautiful up there. My family has been pillars of the community for many years. My maternal grandfather and grandmother owned and operated a taxi park on pine street from the early 70s into the late 80s when my grandfather passed away. My fraternal grandfather built the jail and many other buildings. My family has a rich history here in Pineville and the Bell County area. It's a wonderful place to raise your family. But like all places you have corrupt police and corrupt politicians but with that aside Pineville Kentucky is home and it always will be.

If your family were pillars in the community, theres a fair chance they were corrupt considering how bad it is there. The slushers madons and so on are bout as corrupt as it gets

My wife and I spent a long weekend there, last year. We hiked the trails in the park and had a lovely time. For those of you who like to hike, the Pine Mountain State Park and resort really are a nice, quiet place to visit. We plan on going back one day.

How difficult of a trek is it to walk up to the rock?

​@@CraigBHines it's not a bad walk at all. If you like nature it's really nice. You actually drive to the chain rock parking area. But there's so much more like the sand rock cave, waterfalls, swinging bridge, it's definitely a good place to walk or hike.

Pineville was flooded in 1977 so they built a flood wall and it hasn't been flooded since.
