I have a 034, 036, 440, 261, 400, 462, and the 500i if cutting tree tops for fire wood i like the 261 and the 400 if cutting big stuff its the 462 or the 500i the 500i is just fun to run. for me the 400 is the best all around saw its light and nimble and handles a 24 in bar very well

Nice lineup! I need to try a 500i. Is there enough difference over the 462 though?

@@cabinviewventures not a huge difference in cut speed but you can lean on the 500 a lot more and it just keeps pulling hard. the air filter gets dirty quick on the 500 from all the air it moves through it I think its worth the 300 dollars more if you can spare it

What bar length did you go with? I have my eye on that saw as well.

Arborist buddy told me this: when you throw a chain you get little burrs on the drive teeth and it won’t want to sit in the bar groove. Leave your chain loose and rev the saw a couple times and it’ll knock the burrs off. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the tip! I have always tried filling the burrs off with little luck. It always ends up being a new chain you didn’t retighten in time.

Great review. Was just looking into getting a medium saw to complement my Echo CS310 limb saw. The 462 looks like the one. Much appreciated.

I went through a similar search when I bought the 462. There’s a lot out there to look at. Glad I could help. You will absolutely love that saw!!!

The 462 is like $1300. Are you cutting 24" hardwood? Don't get caught up in more is better. I got the 400 after getting the 550 Mark 2 and I would have been fine stopping there. At three cords a year I could have used the money for gas. @@cabinviewventures

M electronics is a nightmare waiting for you. Like new car computer carbs. Can't be self serviced. Regular carb can be rebuilt by anyone for ten bucks and thirty minutes. M tronics is a trip to dealer for the slightest thing like idle and a lot of dollars for a cleaning as all carbs eventually need. But otherwise, I totally agree with you.

Liked! Despite being a Husqvarna fan boy, I've gone a similar progression. 50cc still rocks. 60cc pro really rocks. Just added a new-to-me 86cc '05 Jonsered for THAT other role; I'm hoping it rocks after some refurb love. Not that I'm looking to destroy the 'measly' 3.2 HP 50cc 450xp, but upgrading to a 4HP in a pro 50cc sure does sound attractive based on how much love I still give to the 450!

@@cabinviewventures All 3 great saws. I wouldn't look past the Husky 562xp MKII. Buckin has several videos on it with a modified muffler. Its light and rips pretty hard. I do agree about the 50 70 90 line up but you can't have enough saws...LOL. Great vid, New sub.

I traded in my 362 for a bigger saw the dealer and the manager pointed out the Ms 462c and I should of bought the 500i R handle instead . Now I have a Ms 261c and the Ms 462c with the wrap handle and runs a 28 up to 32 inch bar ! I still prefer the Ms 500i !

Nice video. I don't have the size trees you have, but I've been looking at the 400C-M for my bigger stuff and firewood bucking. My primary saw is the 261CM, and I agree that the M-tronic works very well. I also use their disposable MS 170 (on my second one now). Hard to beat for under $200. I like it for limbing and smaller stuff.

Great group of saws !!! Pointed out many important points 👍 On the side, take it from an Old almost deaf guy, wear the hearing protection, so when you are 70+ you won’t be like me. I want to see if your feelings about the MS 462c change any after you get to run the MS 500i. I must say, they are both FANtastic saws IMHO 🪵⛓🪚👍👏🇺🇸 Rick
