My friends Burt and Esther Ives adopted 2 Greyhounds-Male and female from the race tracks. Don't remember their names, but the male was a bit aloof and the female friendlier. When Burt and the Greyhounds passed, Esther adopted a male Whippet and named him Percy (short for Percival). I told her I'd name him DEVO ("Whip It". Get it?). She preferred Percy.

Lol! Any number of my hounds over many years have done the same. Hounds are weird but incredibly addictive to have. Our current (and sadly will need to be our last ever 😓) boy does it a bit, but his preference is for me to gently massage the inside and out of his left ear simultaneously - must absolutely be simultaneously (no idea why, he's got no mites or even dirt!), and then he insists on my knuckle gently rubbing inside his right ear. He'll turn his head and put it in my hand until I've done it! Each time he makes such a happy grumbling noise that we call it "revving his motor" because he sounds like a motorbike warming up! 🤣
