CHAINSAW MILL. Milling a huge ash tree 7 meters long.

In this video, I'll show you how to milling a tree with a chainsaw. The difficulty in milling this tree was its size, and this is a length of 7m. The width of this was 1.3 m. And two of these ash trees contained 12 meters of cubic wood. I do not know why these two giants were cut down, but I know for sure that they were supposed to be sawn up for firewood. When I saw them, I could not pass aside and let them turn this beauty into firewood.

I agree with your opening statement. Beautiful wood should never become firewood. Trees are precious, even more so now because of the delicate climate we now live in. Replacing them to a point where it makes a difference will take many generation's, longer if the fires persist as they have across Europe and USA recently. There's enough waste wood in this world. Look about you, firewood everywhere, you just need to know where to look and how to retrieve it. I live in a varst woodland in Scotland that seems to be 400 years old. I'm sourounded by 18,000 hectares. Some parts are around 600 years old while other parts just 50. My woodland contains 8 species of trees. In addition to those 8, there are areas which are dominated by spruce pines and two species of Oak that I regularly use in my furniture business. With so much land I run a forestry management system, I have to otherwise trees will be exstinct on my land within around 70 years. The system I operate permits just enough trees to be cut each year to build furniture over a five year period, with some scope for aditional orders. Five years gives the wood plenty of time to dry naturally. It is stored undercover but outside. I also use a kiln for specialist projects ordered three or four years in advance. The trees are cut into various thiknesses, depending on their use. I make mostly furniture for the home, but more recently, tables with wood and resin combinations, like those seen on Blacktail Studios are becoming popular. Using the trees on my land is not just a business but my way of life. A life I chose 46 years ago. I manage the woodlands, and for every tree felled, two are planted. I have an additional 12 hectares of land used by my Highland Cattle waiting to be populated by trees but this takes time. In another 4 hectares, I managed seven other species of tree not native to the British Isles. Trees from around the world used in making furniture. Some I will never see fully grown, but they are there for our future generations. I have 12 employee's working my land. There's a team of 3 whose only purpose is to retreive fallen trees. The majority of those trees have been damaged by storms and bad weather. These are the ones which are used mainly for firewood. Occasionally there is a tree that once cut their beauty shines through. They are stored in a dry shed until needed. The firewood I use in my home for heating as with all the scrap cutoff parts but most is sold in the local villages throughout the Glens as logs and kindle. They also report back any tree that may be infected. These are promptly cut for firewood only to be used in my home. I don't want to be the person responsible for passing on tree diseases. Thankfully, infected trees are not seen much these days, at least, not on my land. Birds and some insects are the main reason why trees get infections. I can't stop them from taking a well-earned break. I cant stop them from relieving themselves with infected feces while on a pit stop. I just need to deal with any infection because the birds and insects shat all over my trees. My apologies. Once I get started, there's no stopping me. Before I finish, I have one question for you. Did you pay for the trees, or were they free providing you disposed of them? If you did pay, how much? In euros, GBP sterling or dollars, it matters not, as I can convert. I ask because, when trees fall near me and block our roads, I deal with them but get paid by the local councils, and the trees are mine to do with as I want. Its a win win situation. Of course, if after I've dealt with a fallen tree or trees and a councillor commissions me to make a desk or tabletop, I give them a good discount. Again, win win. I will stop here 😂😂😂
