Never be afraid to ask, whether it be your teachers or fellow students, don’t be afraid to ask for a retake or extension on a test, or to play a game with other students, or even to ask them for a pencil. Most are kind enough to say yes. 2. Never be ashamed of yourself, always stand proud and don’t change or do stuff for others, more often than not people will respect that. 3. DONT stress. You will get a larger work load and more responsibility than before, but it’s no big deal, just take one thing at a time, and put school work as a priority when you get home. Middle school grades don’t impact you too much. 4. Make friends, school itself is just so much more enjoyable when you have people to talk to and hang with. 5. It’s fine to care about what other people think of you, but don’t let that control your life, it ruined mine when I really should have never cared too much (we usually overdramatize things in our head).

I was in middle school a little earlier than you (class of 2017) but a lot of this was true even then. I had two middle school relationships and the shit was awkward and uncomfortable as hell. My first boyfriend borderline sexually harassed me, but I just let it slide because I had a crush on him for two years prior. We only went on one date to the beach and I dumped him for a man who was grooming me online. Then in seventh or eighth grade the new kid asked me out and I said yes. It was kind of cute actually. When I was in middle school there was this one kid who hit puberty the moment he walked in the door and it was hilarious because he looked 16 and was in 6th grade. He was way faster than all the guys, and was stronger as well. I ran track with him beginning in that grade and as we grew up and made it to high school he looked the same but I was starting to take track really seriously. He basically peaked in middle school and I was consistently improving to the point where I could beat him at every sprint. Full circle moment
