Chaka has 10 Grammys and four American Music Awards...The girl can SING.. You don't get those awards from the industry if the band is filling in the gaps and doing all the work.

She reminds me of Miles, Fergusson or BBking... the band does all of the work,being all brilliant, the "master" fills in the gaps with his/her little trick..

You really think B.B.'s band did all of the work? Credit where it's due - they were and still are (look them up) a fucking astonishing blues band. But they wouldn't have been so if not for B.B.'s arrangements. They were written around him running a full pace, beginning to end of the show. Fair enough, sometimes that was him filling in little gaps, but a majority of the time his solos totally carried the melody. And when they didn't, it was some of the most phenomenally jazzed up blues shit ever played. Incredible technical skill and virtuosity. The blend of the two genres coming together so materfully was always so astounding to me. The whole show was written out and planned, or a least it was song by song. And that got less and less high energy and fast paced the older he got but you have to remember at the turn of the millennium the guy was 75 and was performing for another 14 years afterwards. And as for Chaka - this was the end of her show. And she'd recently got out of rehab. Of course she's not going to be singing every note available - let's be honest, she doesn't have to, she Chaka fucking Khan. But the woman can sing her face off all the same, just listen to those runs towards the end over the key changes. Phenomenal!
