Challah bread recipe. Very tasty, airy, elastic, yeast dough. The bread remains fresh for a long time. Try this simple and delicious recipe and it will become your favorite.
For making dough:
250 g milk
15 g of yeast
30 g sugar
30 g butter
1 egg
2 g of salt
440 g of wheat flour
For baking:
sunflower oil
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon of water
15-20 g of poppy seeds
35x30 cm form for baking
Making dough:
1. Mix 250 ml of warm milk, 30 g of melted butter (cooled), 1 egg, 30 g of sugar, 2 g of salt, 15 g of yeast
2. Add 440 g sifted flour, knead the dough.
3. Put dough to rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Making the roll:
After the dough doubles in size, fold as shown in the video.
Baking:
1. Put the roll on baking paper (before oiled) 35x30 cm in size. Then mix 1 yolk with 1 teaspoon of water and brush it over the roll and leave it for 1 hour to rise.
2. When the roll rises, brush it one more time with mixture of yolk and water and sprinkle it with poppy seeds.
3. Bake it in an oven heated to 220 °C, on the middle shelf, first at 220 °C for 10 minutes and then for 20 minutes at 180 °C.
Sprinkle the hot baked roll with water, cover it with a kitchen towel and to leave it to cool for 30 minutes.
