This man was one of the best KZbinrs even as a casual sonic fan I agreed with most of his takes on how bad the franchise got to the point where I shelved the franchise until generations and shelved it again untl Sonic Mania. Its a shame he moved on but the times were good back then.None of these newer KZbin channels had the same edge that blackbustercritic had.

Now BBC is and was great. But standards have certainly changed over the years. Now Thomas and Barney are admittedly bad kid shows. They just teach about friendship nothing else really. Sonic however people have changed their opinions on him drastically. Sonic is considered to be an abused franchise rather than a bad one.

Thomas taught lessons more than friendship in the first four seasons, those episodes taught the meanings of honesty, teamwork, whatever the fuck. The only reason why so many autistic people still watch the show is because they somehow get turned on by it.

Simple. Trains. A show about trains has an obvious appeal for adults who are into trains, and model railroading. And the characters in Thomas are _vintage_ trains. They're steam engines. They've got history attached to them. Vintage steam locomotives + Retro aesthetic = Adult appeal. Fairly obvious answer I haven't seen pointed out yet. haha

That video didn’t age well at all. Nowadays, we don’t go out on the internet and harass people who appreciate shows or movies for preschoolers or the young ones. Especially if they grew up with them near and dear to their hearts. Plus, we now respect the target audience as kids. Not saying “its for kids” or “its for babies” as an excuse to explain why something was bad. It’s just kinda biased and unfair.

@@Ethan-ey4jx I agree. However, I sometimes feel like I made a fool out of myself on this video, as I feel like I came of as an annoyance. But yeah, this video really didn't age well, and I honest to god wish I never found it. Nowadays I think people are better off minding their own business. BlackBuster actually might not be like this anymore, he probably just minds his own business. It was mainly people in the comments that might me angry, as they were still agreeing with what BlackBuster said, despite how old the video was. I will admit, Thomas is for kids, and it has always been that way, but unlike Barney, it has a larger age range, not strictly toddlers.

I can't speak for Barney at all. I see zero value in it for anyone past the age of 5. While I'm not a Sonic *or* Thomas fan, I can speak for them a little bit. The older Thomas episodes from my childhood used actual model trains, and I guess someone who has a model train fascination could find some value in seeing the trains move on-screen. As for Sonic, well...even as a grown man, I still to this day get a kick out of the original Genesis-style games.

@@JoshProductions07 Here's the difference: the shows I like? They tend to have humor and themes that can be enjoyed by adults too (Ed, Edd n Eddy and older episodes of Spongebob comes to mind). Does Thomas have anything like that? No. Neither do shows like Barney because they're meant for toddlers and nobody else. And to answer your question about the terrible morals? How about characters getting severely punished for slight offenses like Smudger being stripped of his identity as a train and being turned into a generator just because he was a little sassy and then promptly being forgotten about? That doesn't seem like something a three-year old kid should be shown if you ask me.

And even if it is aimed at children, which I’m not denying at all, like I said, the games are made and written for kids with a 3rd grade comprehension at the youngest, and not kids who cant even walk yet. Children are not just toddlers from birth to age 18. And I don’t care if the adult fanbase are manchildren. That wasn’t the point of my comment. My point was there’s a great difference between something aimed at elementary schoolers and something aimed at a toddler. My only guess as to why BBC conflated it with those two is because, with all due respect to him, he got a serious case of Sonic Brainrot from covering all those Sonicfags.

It is very important to note that Thomas is supposed to take place in the real world. The only differences are 1. That Sodor is a fictitious island, and 2. Many of the trains, vehicles, and rolling stock can talk. The Unlucky Tug recently did some videos explaining that Thomas worked best doing it’s own thing as this slow and easygoing show, while the animated competition was mostly hyperactive, wacky, and/or action-packed. Same logic applies when you compare The Railway Series to most other children’s books around the 1950’s, 60’s, etc. Tl;dr, listen to what The Unlucky Tug, Thomas1Edward2Henry3, Turtle’s ERTLs, or even my past comment, all have to say on why we love Thomas.

Well I like Sonic mainly from the Adventure games but I then was into the whole OC thing for about seven years and then just moved onto anime and shit. But now it's just for the fangames which improved on everything SEGA could've done. The older Thomas was enjoyable because it had nice model landscapes, good music, morals that weren't forced, Ringo Starr and George Carlin as the narrators, character development, moments that it's fair share of humor, nightmare fuel, heartwarming, tear jerking, I could go on. Anyone could say otherwise but whatever. But to me, I can see why people still love it and why the memes exist. And Barney sucks! I find it weird too that people like it but I don't really care.

I am fond of Thomas because the series has a simple storytelling structure that worked for several years. It helps that it is generally easygoing, at least in earlier seasons, as people with Autism like myself are prone to varying struggles. The show even found ways to spawn a lot of memes thanks to the great narrations of Ringo Starr, Michael Angelis and especially the late George Carlin, though I only grew up with RS and MA. I am fascinated by both model trains and real railways in general. The series, both in The Railway Series and TV; have an occasional commentary on British Rail and it’s treatment of steam. I have taken some interest in how things worked behind the scenes. I also like it’s music score, as the various themes are capable of bringing out various feelings. The show also frequently emphasises the importance of doing your job and performing tasks with pride and without fuss. Unlike Barney, however, Thomas did suffer since The Magic Railroad flopped and it became the IP of HIT Entertainment and then Mattel. The latter especially turned it into the polar opposite to have that sweet Paw Patrol dough, no matter how much they want to be PC in today’s climate.

Sonic: I’m not an avid fan but I think he’s pretty cool Thomas: Upon reflection of my deepest affections, I find myself inexplicably drawn to the delightful world of Thomas and Friends. Ah, Thomas, that indomitable engine traversing the rails with unparalleled grace, a symbol of triumph in the face of challenges. But what engenders such fervor within my being? Let us embark upon a voyage of sentiment and explore the multifaceted reasons that lie beneath my adoration for this iconic locomotive. Foremost, we must appreciate Thomas himself, that captivating character exuding an aura of sheer coolness. In the realm of transportation, where banality and monotony often reign, Thomas stands as a beacon of excitement and wonder. His sleek blue exterior gleams under the sun's benevolent gaze, a visual testament to his charismatic presence. As he chugs along the tracks, one cannot help but be transfixed by the rhythmic symphony of wheels turning, emanating a resolute determination to overcome any obstacle that lies in his path. Yet, dear reader, Thomas's charm extends far beyond his own steel frame. Oh, the camaraderie he shares with his fellow locomotives! Each possessing their own distinct personalities, these endearing engines form an unbreakable bond of friendship. Percy, the gallant green engine, embodies loyalty and tenacity. James, the scarlet marvel, exudes confidence and passion. And who could forget the wise and experienced Gordon, whose sage advice guides the younger engines through their trials and tribulations? Their union, like a well-oiled machine, showcases the beauty of camaraderie and the strength found in unity. But let us not neglect the stories that weave the fabric of Thomas's existence. Like pages from a cherished tome, each narrative unfolds with meticulous care, encapsulating a world teeming with moral lessons and heartfelt escapades. Through the tales of Thomas and his friends, young minds are nurtured, imbued with the virtues of perseverance, empathy, and the significance of being true to oneself. These stories, my dear compatriots, are a testament to the transformative power of literature, for they spark imagination, instill values, and ignite a lifelong passion for storytelling. Now, as I indulge my penchant for embellishment and grandiloquence, I must emphasize the ardor that Thomas and Friends has kindled within my heart. Its allure lies not only in the train's cool exterior, but in the universal themes of friendship, resilience, and self-discovery that resonate with audiences of all ages. Thomas, with his indefatigable spirit, imparts upon us a profound lesson: that through determination and unwavering belief in oneself, any challenge can be surmounted, and even the humblest of beings can leave an indelible mark upon the world. In conclusion, the reasons for my unyielding affection for Thomas and Friends are manifold. From the beguiling persona of Thomas himself to the camaraderie he shares with his endearing companions, the tales that unfold like a tapestry of wisdom and the overarching themes that pervade this enchanting universe, all contribute to my unwavering adoration. So, let us embark upon this journey with Thomas and Friends, as we learn, grow, and revel in the beauty of a world where trains become vessels of inspiration and friendship knows no bounds. Barney: Ah, Barney, the beloved purple dinosaur who has captured the hearts of countless children and adults alike. Amidst a myriad of inquiries into the sources of my admiration, I find myself enchanted by the captivating world of Barney and the profound impact it holds. Permit me, dear reader, to embark on a whimsical journey through the realms of imagination, as we explore the multifaceted reasons why I am enamored by this exuberant and vibrant character. First and foremost, Barney possesses an unparalleled talent for playing pretend, a cherished skill that invites young minds to traverse the bounds of reality and immerse themselves in fantastical adventures. Through his magical ability to transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary realms, Barney instills a sense of wonder and unbounded possibility within the hearts of all who bear witness to his whimsical exploits. With every flicker of his warm, kind eyes and every joyful skip of his delightful dance, Barney effortlessly transports his friends and audience into a realm where imagination reigns supreme. Indeed, it is the power of make-believe that propels Barney's allure. From his cozy and welcoming play area, imaginatively called the Barney Bag, to the infectious melodies that spring forth from his melodic voice, Barney fosters an environment that encourages creativity and self-expression. He reminds us that we need not be constrained by the limitations of the tangible world, but instead, we can fashion our own narratives, unearthing a realm where dreams and reality intertwine harmoniously. Furthermore, Barney's charm lies not only in his ability to transport us to captivating make-believe worlds, but also in the profound themes and moral lessons he imparts. Through the colorful tapestry of his tales, Barney instills valuable virtues such as kindness, empathy, and cooperation. He teaches us the importance of embracing diversity, nurturing friendships, and embracing our unique talents and abilities. In the magical world of Barney, young hearts are nurtured, and seeds of compassion and understanding are sown, creating a foundation upon which future generations can thrive. Let us not forget the charismatic presence of Barney himself. Clad in his resplendent purple hide, adorned with an ever-present, welcoming smile, Barney emanates an aura of warmth and unconditional love. His gentle demeanor and genuine affection for his friends evoke a sense of comfort and security, enveloping both young and old with a sense of belonging. It is through his endearing persona that Barney becomes a trusted companion, a beacon of joy amidst the challenges and uncertainties of life. In conclusion, the reasons behind my ardent affection for Barney are numerous and profound. From his enchanting ability to play pretend, fostering imaginative growth and boundless exploration, to the invaluable life lessons he imparts, nurturing the hearts and minds of his adoring audience, Barney is an embodiment of joy, love, and the transformative power of imagination. So, let us embark on this whimsical journey with Barney, embracing the magic of make-believe, and allowing our spirits to soar on the wings of possibility. Together, we shall discover that within the realm of imagination, anything is conceivable, and the extraordinary can become our reality.

I used to love The BlackBusterCritic, but looking back on his videos now, he seems quite petty and nosey. I mean, he put several grown adults in bad lights just because they like Pre-school stuff like Thomas The Tank Engine or Barney The Dinosaur, says crossover videos featuring anthropomorphic animals ruin everyone's childhood, calls almost everything "fagatory", has had an unhealthy obsession with tattle-tailing on Sonic fans and Deviantart members, telling them to stop doing what they like, and sticking his nose into other people's personal lives, and telling them to not have certain interests just because he doesn't like them.

What you just said is all the results of how times have changed since 2010. The Thomas fandom, for example, now has some proficient critical thinkers who can thoroughly research and excellently explain what made The Railway Series and Thomas & Friends significant shows in many childhoods and how poorly the franchise suffered since Mattel bought the rights to it. The excessive use of that particular F word, as well as a certain R word, on top with him and his people using Autism buzzwords in some of their arguments, horribly date a lot of what would otherwise be some of the most based criticism out there.

It kinda does tbh. Maybe it's not considered as childish as Thomas and Barney, but most people I know who like Sonic as a teen/adult liked it as kids. Sonic games today aren't really that good. Some franchises can have their miss titles, but Sonic has a disproportionately high number of them. Kids will like _anything_ that's given to them, regardless on how good or bad the game really is. Kids don't know any better. As they get older, they'll start raising their standards on what they find good. I've met some who stopped liking Sonic because of this. Hell, I have yet to meet anyone who started playing Sonic as a teen or an adult and started to like it. I'm saying this as someone who played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle a lot back then. Looking back at it now, it's clunky as shit. Sonic Mania is really the only newer Sonic game that I can actually consider good. It's quite sad how a fan can make a better Sonic game than Sonic Team.

@ChaoticStorm99 Okay, don't ask me a question and then answer it for me. There are plenty of adults who play Sonic games, many of them who have made reviews and Let's Plays for them right here on KZbin. I've played my share of Sonic games as well and I'm 22.
