Challenger Approaching: Toad's Moveset for Super Smash Brothers

For you who has been following this channel you are well aware I've been making a Toad Moveset Mod for quite some time! I've gone back and forth between so many types of moves, and he's finally reaching a point of completion! After the attacks are polished up, I'll be working on taunts, win, lose, and entry animations.

Am I still the only one that knowz that his dash attack comes from Mario Strikers Charged? Haven't played it in years so please correct me if I'm wrong but I greatly remember one of Toad's gol animations.

Well, every Mario character has references to their paste games. Daisy and peach turnips, Luigi and mario have fireballs, up specials reference the first mario game, Mario’s tilts from sm64, down smash is from Mario dance dance revolution or Mario 64, his dash attack is from Mario 64, his down air could be a reference to Mario Galaxy, his forward and back throw are also from Mario 64. Thing is mario characters are original to form more then you think

One thing I see Sakurai some times does is basing characters off themselves as a character rather than appearance, look at Wario: basically Mario with exaggerated, opposite or similar moves, the anti Mario he was supposed to be, and I kinda like this thinking tbh.

I love this so much. I love the moveset, I love the references, I love the alts, I love the animations, everything is just perfect. You did an amazing job King Bob Gaming. I always wanted toad to be playable since brawl. I also like the alts. Toadette and Captain Toad.Yellow toad and blue toad are also great because of my memories playing new mario bros on the wii and I just really love that you added toadsworth as well. My Favortite move is the propeller suit because it is my favorite power up in mario bros wii. It helped me so much with levels and bosses. I also love the other attacks like the mario kart with even lakitu showing up Great Mod 10/10 👏😄🍄

This is really great! I really like how you incorporated other characters like Toadette, Capt. Toad and Toadsworth as his alts. It's a really inventive moveset, too. I'm not too sure about the neutral special, though...specially that cannon.

Absolutely incredible! I always thought Toad earned his role in Smash ages ago, so it's wonderful to see someone pay tribute to him with such a creative and referential moveset. The only change I would really make is perhaps have his running animation pay more tribute to the games he's been in (3D World, NSMBW/U), but that's such a tiny nitpick on top of an already incredible mod. Fantastic work!

Let's apply some changes to Mario based off of Toad. Like make his up special his up smash, which can be interacted with his nuetral special, said nuetral special could be a ? block, the fire balls could be his nuetral regular attacks with a random element of being the ice flower or being able to change with the ? Block along with the entire moveset, without powerups Mario does standard acrobatics and with allows Mario to be able to use different effects. And Luigi we are going to base him off of a improved version of Luigi's Mansion. Like for example his up B being basically similar to Min Mins except this time if he is on the ground he uses the burst ability from the 3rd game and if he is in the air he blows out water his Poltergust has and this can be a reference to A) how he constantly is cartoonishly forced to bear right through whatever in testing devices E. Gadd gives him B) the speedy jetpack he rides in the Starbean cafe and C) If I remember correctly there was a feature that allowed him to do so in the beta of the first game. His attacks can nearly all be suction/blowing poses that Luigi does. His down special affects both with A) red makes his suction more aggressive and powerful though laggier in end lag and blowing being a firery attack B) Blue makes the suction more smoother and easier though slower and blowing being a watery attack with ice being a variation C) and Yellow makes the Suction bigger and more absorbent though has a bigger start up lag and endlag and blows an electrifying attack Anyway, after you are done with Bandana Dee, Toad, etc could you work on King Boo?

A few ideas for the kart would be to make turning a little slower (even like warios bike maybe,) and I don't know if this has already been done, but using in water could let you either ride on top or swim through very fast. And another idea (sorry for all the ideas I just think this is EXTREMELY AWESOME) would be after toad does up spacial you could press a to spin some more (like in NSMBW.) This is looking like an amazing mod and cant wait to play!

I think that there should be some different odds for each block that comes from the neutral B. Maybe lower the chances of the POW block and cannons. But otherwise this is an outright awesome and inspired mod. Fantastic work

I do wanna add yellow toad! But costumes only allow 15 slots right now! Final smash is incomplete and I’m also playtesting like crazy to polish his attacks even more! As far as lxp goes they are welcome to use him if they want! I’ve learned a lot being a dev there and if they’d like to use him I don’t mind one bit!

I don’t want to sound picky since I really love this, but I have some things I would change: - I think Toad’s down tilt should be the roll in Super MARIO 3D World - The charge jump in Super Mario Bros 2 doesn’t include coins or a backflip - Toad never spewed spores in any Mario game. Maybe his down smash could have him pull a lever, causing the ground around him to rise up - I would make his dash attack the long jump from the 3D Mario games

No worries at all! I’ll look into the roll! The spores is a reference to his attack with peach. In Super Mario Advance (which is a remake I think) they do perform a backflip for the power squat jump 👍
