I just want to come on here as a massive tennis fan and let everyone know that the actual dynamics of the real pros on tour are also Hella dramatic 😭😭😭. Everyone grows up together and come from the same junior tournaments and by the time they become pros everyone knows everyone. People date across the tours, then break up and date other players and there's friendships and rivalries and so much drama every single day cause every single match every day has 2 people playing out their specific dynamic and it's just them, no team no nothing just you, for hours. A lot of it is the sporty tennisy stuff but alot of it is just personal drama 😭. It's bloody fun to watch too if you've seen a highlight on KZbin you'd know. I'm just soo happy the movie is giving it some attention cause I swear it's so bloody fun to watch and people have given it the reputation for being an old people thing when in reality it's a lot of young hot people doing their best to destroy the person on the other side of the court whether they're friends or enemies. (PS if you're interested in any real life tennis dynamics look out for fedal, rafole, sabadosa, tsitsidosa or there's a netflix show from the people who made F1 blow up)

17:04 What I noticed during this part is that Tashi listing off Art’s good qualities not only didn’t seem to annoy Patrick, it actually seemed to…get him going 🤷🏻 It was only when she said the part about Patrick thinking he’s won before the game is over that he became bothered. Also, I definitely think the loud score was intentional, and yes it was very loud. It was an original score by the NIN guy, made special for this movie, so I had to be an intentional choice by Luca. While it bugged me a bit that it got loud during some pivotal arguments, I actually think that was on purpose too - it added to the chaos and made it hard to hear and understand the other person, as often happens in arguments with loved ones. Also, like the rampant product placement, I think the loud pump-up music was meant to make even their most intimate moments feel like a tennis match, or a sports drink commercial.

Enjoying a sports movie was not on my 2024 bingo card, but wow, it was amazing. I was the only person in the cinema so was truly thriving with my own accidental private screening. Also, the score was really loud for me too, so I think that's just how it's meant to be.

In the original script, patrick tells tashi that he never had a great career in tennis because he felt responsible for her injury. Since she was supposed to be the one out of the three to have an amazing career and couldnt play anymore, he felt he couldnt possibly be succesful.
@dreamslove11846 ай бұрын
I found that excuse cheap,it wasn't just that ,like there were many factors,he was already failing before the injury,he said,he used tennis as form of not having a" real" job or responsabilities,when I doubt tennis isn't a big commitment and must have a lot of responsabilities. He lacked the discipline,he never stopped smoking,we don't see him training anymore ,he never changes his service,he didn't listen to advices or coaching.Like he took his decisions,wanted to live the life as he wanted ,and played tennis as he wanted but that doesn't make you necessarily successful. In the original script ,Tashi predicted since the beginning that he won't be susessful in tennis. I would accept it,if with the injury ,he became a complete different player,but he was in that path a long time ago

watched the movie a few days ago and i'm still trying to wrap my brain around it, so this video actually helped me understand some of the scenes a bit clearer. also i work at a movie theater and the audio being like that is most likely the theater's fault! the most common complaint i hear is the temperature and the sound.

@patmcconnell99566 ай бұрын
I don’t understand. It was a trio and all 3 DID play tennis with and against each other in an epic and dramatic love triangle. What you say you “thought we get” IS what we got? If you were expecting all 3 to play tennis at the same time, that’s not possible (unless they’re doing doubles with a random 4th person).

9:05 I feel this. Sorry to hear if you’re in this position, but it’s great you can find the time and passion to do these videos. I wish I had more motivation to be more creative, but coporations are just sucking the soul out of me.. Watching shitty people be shitty sometimes makes me feel better about myself... The music was loud but in a good way. I think there was just issues with some of the dialogue recording, it was a bit rough and they didn’t replace it with ADR to make it more clear, which I wish they would. Also I would say there is technically one sex scene, being in the collage dorm, pretty sure Tashi had her hand down Patrick’s pants. But the point you make is very true. That tennis ball POV shot was fire though, the most exciting cinema I’ve seen in a while. Also loved the way they would shoot the balls going right into the camera (which I believe were fake VFX balls), but it just keeps you so on edge the whole time. This is one of the few sports movies where I actually enjoy the sports scenes, so Luca did a fantastic job.

i’ve been so confused seeing people call art the bad guy/loving patrick. patrick was sooo icky to me, like that’s a loser who’s still living in high school. he’s literally living in his car and can’t pay $70 and yet he’s still gloating that art has never won against him. ugh and his smug little grin that he had in every scene? i could not stand him. maybe i’m biased because i’m a mike faist fan but josh o’connor was not giving charisma for me, it was giving sleaze😭

What do you mean it's not character-driven!? This film would be nothing without the complex relationships and sly looks from the trio! I've seen it three times now (I have an unlimited cinema pass in Berlin) and the first time I regarded it only as a soft porno, the second time I enjoyed it more and was curious about all of the different timelines and storytelling, but the THIRD time! Woo, the third time I was glued to the story of deep betrayal, loss, codependency, bi/pan sexuality, the music from the intimate scenes (not the techno, but I liked that intensity too), and enjoyed the aging and fashion of the main trio as well. I went from unimpressed to extremely interested in how much was put into this film and the dedication of it all from the entire film crew. PS: the score was LOUD ASF but only during the techno music, not so loud on the other music. I think it was purposeful to drive the plot.

@@MsUdontknowmee totally agree with this. its more a look at how co-dependency can really harm all who are apart of the toxic relationship.
