As an Albertan, I can recall the winter of 2013/2014, and yeah it was -40 with windchill temps down to the -50s. In this video was released, I had actually just gotten back home several days prior, from a vacation down in Panama for two weeks. It was a 70° difference in temperature change, from +35° to -35°C. Pretty freaking cold, eh?

I once went to Canada. I went up to Quebec and stayed for about 4 hours, and while there I saw these things: The Metric System! Clean industrial complexes! (Genius!) Proper and up-to-date street signs! Sideways streetlights! (Crazy!) Stop signs that say "ARRET"! Carports! Non-Walmart Supermarkets! (Strange...) Restaurant TVs playing soccer and not football! (Well, it is called football over there...) Poutine with salsa instead of gravy! (What?) An informative billboard of a mountain that actually had a cutout to show the real mountain instead of a picture! (WOW!) Garbage disposal! Random ramps on a farm! (Weird!) Cleanup scenes from a train explosion! (Ouch!) This: é! Bicyclists! And so much more! (But I forgot it)

Nah, it's always there no matter what. What they're looking for when the shopkeepers hold the bill up to a light is for the plastic strip at the bottom of it. The security strip can only be seen when held up to a light.

I don't know this, but I'm guessing the design of the dollar bill has been the same for years, and when they were first printed in the way you see them today, they probably didn't have those plastic strips, so they needed details in the print to avoid counterfeiting. As a matter o' fact, we learn about the two world wars because believe it or not Canada took part in those and fought alongside US armies, yes our military is tiny as compared to yours but we still did what we could to help. Also, a lot of what I had for high school history rested in ancient Rome and the medieval middle east, up until early settlers in the west. Also, I took a course on Canadian literature that was also partially historical and there are all kinds of stories from across our country that tell of older days and experiences of those times, we are a very diverse country and history is not a boring subject for many of my peers, nor is it easy for people such as myself. I don't know what you do in history if it's just memorizing facts but at least where I am in Canada (could be different in other provinces) we need to know the facts and be able to form our own opinions about those events which is a very challenging thing for many of us.
