Interesting to see this part of the world forty four years after I and a couple of good English friends walked up to Tosh and Kheerganga over a number of days, and at the very same time year - the first week of September 1976. We'd been living in Manikaran - a wonderful place back then, totally and utterly ruined now - for the better part of three months. No one much around except for the locals and a few freaks, although one day the Dalai Lama came by with his entourage to bathe, or give his blessings, at the hot springs at the Sikh temple next to that wonderful raging (pre-dam) torrent - the Parvati. No development whatsoever, no electricity, not much in the way of food either (just dhal, chapattis, tea and barfi), another simpler world long gone. And it was the charas 'rubbing' season involving everyone from young girls up to not quite senior citizens. The girls and their mothers were definitely the finest of 'rubbers' - they had the 'touch' when it came to the herb. The best of times, incredible highs. I'm so grateful I was a young man then - I always count my blessings. I congratulate you on some lovely footage - but like everywhere nowadays way too many people, stuff and too much technology. A lot less magic. Bombulay, Bom Shankar!

Hey Scot Barne, I am glad my video could help you freshen up your memories of the place. You are talking about the time when I was not even born. He he he. But I totally agree with you that the sanctity of the place is lost. The rapid urbanisation has made the world less beautiful. I went there when I was a teenager in late 90s and the place Manikaran was a visual treat. I remember we went there by a local transport bus and the roads were so narrow with strong waves of parvati river flowing just next to the रियाद that it was a terrifying experience for a young mind like me. @@ChalLeOye Thanks for the reply. I was in India (Chennai and further south) at the end of 2017, the first time back in the country since the 70s. Really enjoyed it, but in a different sort of way. India is endlessly fascinating but not sure if I'll ever leave my home in Phuket, Thailand again. It's changed enormously since I came here - before India - in the 70s. The trouble is getting where you'd like to go without all the aggravation of airports and the rest. And now living in the age of the coronavirus and whatever it might evolve into. Cheers

You should have went above...there is Kurla village ....and it's mesmerizing....we went there in March... whole area beyond the waterfall was covered in Ice...we trek on the ice to reach it...2 hrs from waterfall...

I had booked it with a travel group, although the price was very manageable for a solo trekker but the experience was very bad as on managing the trip. Thats why i never mentioned anything in my videos about the group or anything, I just showed what I felt in a personal journey. I believe in positive publicity if its of worth and forget the worst what happened. If you want to travel, come travel with me. I have been in tosh in July and it's so beautiful. Few things u missed in this video is there is place kutla and tosh glacier point where u can spend time so peacefully in the lap of nature. It's around 1 hr and 2 hrs of trekking from waterfall.
