कमाल अमरोही साहब ने इस फिल्म को सन 1956 में बनाना शुरू किया था पर दोनों पति पत्नी यानी अमरोही साहब और मीना जी के आपसी मनमुटाव के कारण यह 1971 में रिलीज हो सकी। इसके लगभग सभी गाने 1957-58 में ही रिकार्ड हो चुके थे इसीलिए इन गानों में उस समय का अनमोल संगीत झलक रहा है। फिल्म रिलीज होने व गीत संगीत का यहीं अंतर इस फिल्म के गानों को सुपर हिट कर गया।

The songs were composed by Ghulam Mohammad and after his death Naushad completed the album. Pakeezah was released in 1972 only after Mohammad’s death in 1968.

Ye film रिलीज होने से पहले ही गाने रेडियो पर आते थे और कमाल साहब का मीना कुमारी से अलग होना और कई साल बाद फिर फिल्म पूरी करना, मीना कुमारी को कैंसर हो जाना और उस हालत में शूटिंग करना, मौत हो जाने पर computer की सहायता से फिल्म पूरी होना, 39साल की उम्र में इंतकाल होना और फिल्मी पत्रिका से हर खबर लेते हुए दिल में गहरे तक उतर गई थी, फिर आर्मी सर्विस उसी समय साथ साथ सब हुआ और अब फिर से यादें ताजा हो गई, आप सभी लोगों को धन्यवाद

I played the tape of all the Pakeezah songs to my Iranian friend in 1990 and he found it amazing. I used to know some farsi then and some words in Urdu are from Persian and I explained a few urdu words and he then understood the poetry, which enhanced his experience.

This song was written in 58 when they started to film the movie. The production of the movie stopped half way and was completed 12 years later. Both Meena Kumari and Raj Kumar had visibly aged by then.

I was 17 when I first saw this movie, as a young girl I somehow believed these kind of strong connections exist and nature resonates with your emotions, timeless moments captured n rendered in this song and the way its composed n directed especially the whistle sound of the train in end of the song, such beautiful rendering and definitely it was a movie ahead of it times in all technicalities...yet these things seems like a dream in today's cinema n today's life.
