It will handle a 10 x 13 pouch, which allows for the maximum amount of the pouch to fill the chamber and to cross the heating bar. The maximum height in the middle is about 3.75 inches (4 inches is too high). The recommended standard for calculating cool down time is to add an additional second to the sealing time. (E.g., 2 second seal time; 3 second cool down). In addition, it is also recommended that lid be held down by hand prior to starting the vacuuming. I nervously purchased this same unit but, surprisingly, for such a cheap Chinese machine, it works great. No regrets so far. Thanks for the video review.

I've had mine for about two years now. Its all in Chinese. It didn't really occur to me to go surfing for info on it. Today is the first time I've topped up the Oil in the pump. I don't use it extensively. It works. It works good. It does its job. Liquids need to be cold or room temperature though, as warm liquids will tend to boil when a vacuum is applied.. There is a hole in the bottom front right corner that goes directly to that Manometer. If any gunk (liquid) goes down that hole, your manometer's stuffed. It won't interfere with operation but you'll lose your gauge indication. I have yet to look into if it can be replaced or serviced. You also need to attend to wiping it down and ensuring it is dry otherwise rust pitting will occur on the inner chamber. Food Hygiene! Keep it clean, keep it sanitary, keep it dry, and it'll do the job quite well.

@ItsallabouttheRack4 жыл бұрын
Not sure that the pump is the flaw of this unit, could it be better, I'm sure!. It is a basic unit, and therefore the heat strip is cheap and needs to be replaced more than a quality unit would come with. Also the hold down bar is too light it closes down over the bag but doesn't secure it and at times if the bag is not in far enough it can pull thru.

@@jeffhack6839 most welcome for the video! I think if anything the heat strip is over powered or maybe powered correctly but the tape that covers it is just cheap. Just a note on this unit, the motor is 120 watts, which is a good measure for how much vacuum it will pull (as I read). Weston sells units that start as low as 200 watts and go up to 900 watts. VacMasters are 400 watts. A Food Saver sealer is about 120 watts. So this unit might not pull a much better vacuum then a typical Food Saver. One difference is a Food Saver style machine sucks air out of a bag which makes it inefficient. But regardless, the vacuum pump on this unit appears to be far less powerful than the more expensive units.
@ItsallabouttheRack4 жыл бұрын
I will agree with you on this. But I feel it does pull a better vacuum than a Food Saver as well as being able to use it for liquids makes it a better value especially once you start comparing cost of bags. Excellent points and good research on your part.

No air inside. The steaks it sealed well but felt loose in bag like all the air didn't get pulled out. Does the meat being packaged need to be frozen first for a better tight packaging? Any tips to make this unit better? I noticed the steel that the silicone seal sits on is well poorly finished. Scratches and some dips. Not super smooth. Thinking about running a strip of tape?
@ItsallabouttheRack Жыл бұрын
No it doesn't need to be frozen. I have noticed a package or two that has not vac'd as good as the "usual", I'll just start over. Not sure why this happens but it's definitely not the norm. It works well with liquids! The reason why is because it doesn't pull the vacuum from the bag like a food saver does, it pulls the vacuum from inside the chamber which the bag is a part of. It then allows the atmosphere to reenter the chamber, (the bag is sealed by this point) which puts the pressure on the bag causing that suck in. For a budget type machine, it works really good! Is compressor oil and vacuum pump oil the same? They look similar and both devices are pumping air.
@ItsallabouttheRack3 жыл бұрын
No they are not the same oil. Vacuum pump oil is formulated so that it will absorb moisture, this is why it needs to be changed every so often. If you were to fill up the oil with all the moisture that it could take, the moisture will bypass and this is when you can start breaking down you pump. Hi, can this unit vacuum seal liquid? For eg: Soup?

Yes it can because it vacuums the chamber and not the bag. What makes the seal on a bag or a jar is the introduction of atmospheric pressure... So I have the same exact unit and every single time it tries to seal it pops fuses and this the other day I tried to put another fuse in their same exact size the fuse did not pop and the actual heat strip bar caught on fire very unsafe unit
@ItsallabouttheRack2 жыл бұрын
When was the last time you replaced the actual heat strip and the covering for it? They give you extra, I changed mine when the strip was looking to worse for wear. The heat strip is just thin metal and will wear out.

The wiring may have been compromised to a point that its been degraded and due to this the Amp drawn goes up and the fuse pops. Either take it to a repair shop or buy new. Have to say though, this has been for me a very good bang for my buck.

You've already voiced your disgust on this unit, allow this sleeping dog to lie.

Hi there what kind of oil do I have to take?
@ItsallabouttheRack4 жыл бұрын
It takes vacuum pump oil. I know they sell it on Amazon. Vacuum pump oil is vacuum pump oil, no need for anything special.

No, sorry. I would look on Ebay and contact as many sellers as possible to expand the search. Good luck! Obviously what you get for a budget unit like this... Lack of customer service 🤨

I believe it will because it has a heat sealer bar to seal your package. I have not tried, having said that so don't buy solely based on my limited experience.

I'm not a commercial user but there's only a few makers of these units. Definitely spend the money on a name brand and something that has a company that you can get a hold of for parts or service.

Food saver is a ripoff. U can get the same perforated bags from china for about 5cents each.
@ItsallabouttheRack4 жыл бұрын
Food Saver brand...? Yes, I would agree with that. Even if you can buy the "cheap" bags, which I did get some and some were fine and some no so much. The benefits to a machine of this type is that it is a chamber vac which gives you the benefit of doing liquids like soups or marinades.

Thank you for a very informative and honest presentation. I appreciate all the details you take time to explain. I also like all the knowledgeable people who have contributed their expertise on the topic of pumps, electricity, oils, etc... You really help one to make a well informed decision so there should be fewer surprises or disappointments once you get the product. I really like your Chanel.

Can you stand mason jars up to seal them? If so, what is the max height inside the chamber?
@ItsallabouttheRack4 жыл бұрын
I have not tried any type of jar in it. It's kinda hard to measure that inside height, so you know the measurements of the jar and I can see if it may fit?
@errcl654 жыл бұрын
Normal mason jars with lids are 7 inches tall with a 3 inch x 3 inch base.

After doing some searching and then calling another mfg, they do NOT recommend putting Mason jars in them. I found a mfg called Fisher that has a vacuum plate for Mason hats but it's VERY pricey!

Ugh why does no one post reducing the time. Why would I want to do it slower and longer. What happens if I put vacuum setting on 1 or 2 seconds .... time is money here . Helloooo
@ItsallabouttheRack3 жыл бұрын
I get what you're saying but there's actually science behind pulling a vacuum. The more you go below atmospheric pressure and into the micron range the better the bag seals and the tighter the bag will be around your product and the less freezer burn you will experience. Putting that aside the time is money theory you speak of does not pertain to me sealing average things that I'm putting in my freezer, not really sure I care about time, but I do care about it lasting a long enough time in my freezer.
@900stx73 жыл бұрын
I've found that you can loosely vacuum solid objects in as little as five seconds. Large cuts of meat take thirty seconds. With the same machine, I do most items set at 20sec. Vacuum, 1.5sec.Seal, 4sec. Cool down.

Is there a particular brand of oil you use for the machine? or will any old pump oil suffice?
@ItsallabouttheRack2 жыл бұрын
You are going to need a vacuum rated oil for this. I've been trying to work a deal with a manufacturer of parts including oil but have not come to terms yet. If you look on Amazon for vacuum pump oil, it's all the same.

Any update on the longevity of this machine? I'm very interested after this review.
@ItsallabouttheRack4 жыл бұрын
I buy stuff in bulk and use it just about every weekend. It shows no signs of slowing down at this point. It is pretty simple inside and looks to have a good vacuum pump. The life blood of any pump is going to be the oil, so as long as you're keeping an eye on it and changing it once it becomes milky, it should last. I'm still happy with my purchase and feel that's its a much better investment over a Food Saver.

The oil is not something you have to change after every use. I have not changed it at this point and it's the initial oil that was put into the unit. You can tell if the oil needs to be changed because it will start to get a milky color. I'm sure the oil could be desposed of by taking it to an auto parts store.
