It will handle a 10 x 13 pouch, which allows for the maximum amount of the pouch to fill the chamber and to cross the heating bar. The maximum height in the middle is about 3.75 inches (4 inches is too high). The recommended standard for calculating cool down time is to add an additional second to the sealing time. (E.g., 2 second seal time; 3 second cool down). In addition, it is also recommended that lid be held down by hand prior to starting the vacuuming. I nervously purchased this same unit but, surprisingly, for such a cheap Chinese machine, it works great. No regrets so far. Thanks for the video review.

I've had mine for about two years now. Its all in Chinese. It didn't really occur to me to go surfing for info on it. Today is the first time I've topped up the Oil in the pump. I don't use it extensively. It works. It works good. It does its job. Liquids need to be cold or room temperature though, as warm liquids will tend to boil when a vacuum is applied.. There is a hole in the bottom front right corner that goes directly to that Manometer. If any gunk (liquid) goes down that hole, your manometer's stuffed. It won't interfere with operation but you'll lose your gauge indication. I have yet to look into if it can be replaced or serviced. You also need to attend to wiping it down and ensuring it is dry otherwise rust pitting will occur on the inner chamber. Food Hygiene! Keep it clean, keep it sanitary, keep it dry, and it'll do the job quite well.

Glad you found info here! After using it for a few months now... I do still like it but I guess I'm just used to a commercial machine that REALLY sucks the the bag around the product TIGHT. It does do a good job but it is after all a $300 machine. MUCH better and I'm sure in the long run better than the Food Saver! Thanks for tuning in and subscribe and like... Any other questions, leave them here!

Thanks for the video. My takeaway after this and reading a few reviews is if you want a lot of handholding - this may not be it. However if you're okay with undoing a few screws and ensuring the hoses and wires are properly connected - this is a great value.

You're gonna have to undo a screw to put oil into it. I have not had any problems with any wires or hoses. I agree that it is a great value, and I'm still using it and happy that I spent the money on this "value" unit. The listed dimensions ar 16”h x 18”d x 14”w on the sale site but it is the same model! Mobile Vectra 2 oil is perfect for this machine. It is $42.00 per gal. and should be changed often. These machines are not known for fit and finish but are more reliable than countertop sucking vacuum units. You: “Finest high quality screwdriver!” Me: “BWAHAHAHAHA!!!” (ROFLMBO). By the way-It just seems odd that your machine suffers ‘Ed’ during performance....(anxiety?) Great review! Hella-impressive! For the money you get a chamber, controls and a pump. This is worth it as you can always purchase another pump to get a faster vacuum with same chamber size, The pump still pulls down to 29/30, just takes longer, Have one on the way and will DIY for more control features.
@ItsallabouttheRack
@ItsallabouttheRack 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure that the pump is the flaw of this unit, could it be better, I'm sure!. It is a basic unit, and therefore the heat strip is cheap and needs to be replaced more than a quality unit would come with. Also the hold down bar is too light it closes down over the bag but doesn't secure it and at times if the bag is not in far enough it can pull thru.
@jeffhack6839
@jeffhack6839 4 жыл бұрын

@@jeffhack6839 most welcome for the video! I think if anything the heat strip is over powered or maybe powered correctly but the tape that covers it is just cheap. What will happen is that the tape will shrink and crunch up and what happens is the bag takes on this crease and sometimes not seal. You have to press the tape back down between each bag to make sure it's smooth.

Just a note on this unit, the motor is 120 watts, which is a good measure for how much vacuum it will pull (as I read). Weston sells units that start as low as 200 watts and go up to 900 watts. VacMasters are 400 watts. A Food Saver sealer is about 120 watts. So this unit might not pull a much better vacuum then a typical Food Saver. One difference is a Food Saver style machine sucks air out of a bag which makes it inefficient. But regardless, the vacuum pump on this unit appears to be far less powerful than the more expensive units.
@ItsallabouttheRack
@ItsallabouttheRack 4 жыл бұрын
I will agree with you on this. But I feel it does pull a better vacuum than a Food Saver as well as being able to use it for liquids makes it a better value especially once you start comparing cost of bags. Excellent points and good research on your part.

I just bought this same chamber sealer. Used it for a rib roast I cut into steaks , ribs & fat chunks for sausage making. I got mixed results. The ribs and the fat chunks had a very tight pack. No air inside. The steaks it sealed well but felt loose in bag like all the air didn't get pulled out. Does the meat being packaged need to be frozen first for a better tight packaging? Any tips to make this unit better? I noticed the steel that the silicone seal sits on is well poorly finished. Scratches and some dips. Not super smooth. Thinking about running a strip of tape?
@ItsallabouttheRack

No it doesn't need to be frozen. I have noticed a package or two that has not vac'd as good as the "usual", I'll just start over. Not sure why this happens but it's definitely not the norm. The tape needs to be the same type as far as I know, which is a great resistant tape. I have sourced it off you need some I can give you a link.

You should be fine, but may see a little bit of smoke possibly, it's nothing to worry about if you do. The half full is the best way to fill because of the oil heating up and expanding, so as long as you're not running it for extensive periods of time you'll be fine.

@ItsallabouttheRack
@ItsallabouttheRack 5 жыл бұрын
It works well with liquids! The reason why is because it doesn't pull the vacuum from the bag like a food saver does, it pulls the vacuum from inside the chamber which the bag is a part of. It then allows the atmosphere to reenter the chamber, (the bag is sealed by this point) which puts the pressure on the bag causing that suck in. For a budget type machine, it works really good! @ItsallabouttheRack

No they are not the same oil. Vacuum pump oil is formulated so that it will absorb moisture, this is why it needs to be changed every so often. If you were to fill up the oil with all the moisture that it could take, the moisture will bypass and this is when you can start breaking down you pump. Yes it can because it vacuums the chamber and not the bag. What makes the seal on a bag or a jar is the introduction of atmospheric pressure... @@jonblack7066 honestly I think you'll be fine. Don't forget this pump has never run before and has a "break in period". Actually I just ran mine for 6 bags for turkey that I sliced and I did see a little bit of smoke. I think some of it is vapor because you are pulling all of the moisture out of the chamber and that is a by product of it.

Otherwise, if you don't mind, one last question: the manufacturer said to use #46 hydraulic oil. The only one that I could find that wasn't in bulk was this Sta-Lube Hydraulic & Jack Oil. The spec sheet ( api.crcindustries.com/auto-services/get-pds/SL2552 ) says it's rated at ISO Viscosity Grade 46 and SAE Grade 20). Do you think there are any issues with that oil? Again, thanks a million! Sincerely appreciate the help!

@ItsallabouttheRack

I get what you're saying but there's actually science behind pulling a vacuum. The more you go below atmospheric pressure and into the micron range the better the bag seals and the tighter the bag will be around your product and the less freezer burn you will experience. Putting that aside the time is money theory you speak of does not pertain to me sealing average things that I'm putting in my freezer, not really sure I care about time, but I do care about it lasting a long enough time in my freezer.

I buy stuff in bulk and use it just about every weekend. It shows no signs of slowing down at this point. It is pretty simple inside and looks to have a good vacuum pump. The life blood of any pump is going to be the oil, so as long as you're keeping an eye on it and changing it once it becomes milky, it should last. I'm still happy with my purchase and feel that's its a much better investment over a Food Saver.
