Korngold at his lyrical, unsentimental, best. Wonderfully and sensitively played. Omnipresent left hand piano, bravo. Thanks for presenting this work to us. Korngold reveals his true genius, recognised by Mahler and Strauss.

I thought myself reasonably familiar with Korngold's output, but this is new to me. Perhaps due to not being very enthused about chamber music. But this is certainly contributing to changing my mind about the genre. Wonderful music, rich and rewarding, and performed masterfully. Add superb engineering, and what more can one ask for? This adds to the rewarding body of works confirming Korngold's genius. OK, so he failed to "keep up with the times"; instead, he revealed there remained much to be explored that didn't eschew melody and harmony.
